Dear Ocean City Locals

If you carefully read the documents put out today, the Mayor stated that we are still to abide by Governor Hogan's orders, shelter in place.

What I find so interesting with these BS orders is, most people are not following his order but more importantly Hogan and Law Enforcement are NOT enforcing these orders. Hence all of the out of state tags in our area.

Even as far as Wicomico County, Sheriff Lewis stated they will NOT pull people over and cite anyone for violating these orders unless you are in an accident and even then they probably won't.

Then the Mayor does an interview in Baltimore and announces the beach and boardwalk will be open. Now what do you think people will do from the Baltimore area? The Mayor did not flat out state you cannot come here according to the Governors orders.

So we can easily expect to be overwhelmed from this point forward. Keep in mind, the Mayor also did NOT state the hotels/motels will not be open. So now I want to know, will the public restrooms be open? I can flat out tell you that IF they are, it is the worst place a human can be during this pandemic. The germs and virus will be at its highest level. However, IF they don't open the restrooms, where the hell will people relieve themselves?

Finally, each and every one of you need to remember what happened here on St. Patrick's Day weekend. The tourons wiped out every single grocery store and we haven't been able to restock since. That's a FACT. So you better get everything you may need for the next week or more because people with condos will wipe everyone out.

Good Luck!

This should be an epic disaster! Berlin ought to consider blockading their roads.

They will start at Salisbury walmart and work their way towards ocean city looking for food and supplies. No doubt Berlin walmart will be flooded with people getting summer "essentials".

We need to consider blocking the BayBridges..!!!

I agree completely. But, on his signed order, u thought it said hotels were closed until may 22.

Read “Depravation of rights under color of law”. Found at Justice.gov. You’ll understand why gubnors and mayors are backing off

Yeah, and dig massive Pungie pits, that swallow whole cars, and arm ONLY OC residents(because, obviously they're the only ones capable) with Cruise missiles and and Israel's "Iron Dome" missle defence system. We MUST take out the Interlopers!!! But remember...They're just like the Zombies....you MUST damage their brains!!!!....Oh yeah, apparently their brains are already damaged...

Block the Bay Bridge? Look I may live in Annapolis but I OWN that home in Ocean City. I pay 10 times the taxes of 95% of you people and if I want to go to MY home I will go. This is still America.

hope old Rick doesn't end up looking like the mayor of Amity Island.

Someone just found out that higher #s of people congregating dilute the virus vs feeding the flame. That is the diametric opposite of what we've heard daily for the last couple months.Imagine that, the larger the gathering the weaker the virus.Hmmm.

I typically agree with you Joe. But not this time. Forbidding folks from enjoying their own properties and nearby amenities reeks of big Gov gone over the top exuding a bloodlust for power. Their taxes paid are the same as locals paid taxes. I certainly don’t want to be restricted to travel only on the “island” which is effectively the same as restricting them from entering.

Will your establishment be open? That would be the only reason I come to OC.

Aside from personal believe, the ESS storm this has started because of one thing. BAD COMMUNICATION. Once anything is out there, it's very hard to walk it back. Maybe this is what City Hall wanted so after it blows up damage control would be closing shop down thru memorial day, to July in time for the 4th weekend. May make City Hall like the hero's.

Yet we will always know they are Zero's and will be remembered come November.

Put that in your Pipe Rickie. Friends close and enemies closer. Well friends are becoming your enemies...which means you are surrounded.

What?
No freedom here?

Wow
You guys know nothing about mind control, tyrannical government, or the concept of quarantine SICK people - not healthy people.

Can’t you see they are lying?
They are PAYING hospitals $30,000 for each person LISTED as COVID-19.

5:15 and those that feel the same...What you clearly don't understand and likely DON'T CARE about is that the local hospitals are not big enough or equipped enough to handle the additional numbers when so many "property owners" show up to their vacation homes and get sick. No one is trying to keep you away from "your property", they're trying to keep you OUT OF OUR HOSPITALS! No doctor should ever have to decide who gets a vent when there's not enough! Have some compassion!

InvictusV - "End up" looking like the mayor of Amity from Jaws? Oh, he's a dead ringer NOW. Go watch some of those clips on YouTube and tell me he isn't just like Amity Mayor Larry Vaugn. All about the money. He will worry about the lives lost later on when he can shift the blame to someone else. Great actors these politicians.

Oh,please. Sorry to be the spelling police, but lots of people learn new words by seeing this blog. DEPRIVATION... Variation of “deprive.”

Strange how some people don’t understand”satire”. Is it ego or stupidity? Oh, well, to each his own.

@ 5:15-
So nice to hear that you pay more taxes than 95% of "you people". What an arrogant comment. I guess because you pay more taxes means that you are entitled to do as you please. Most true locals appreciate the fact that tourism drives our town's economy, but it's imbeciles like you that create the animosity from so many who call this town their true home.

I don't believe it's any real secret that money talks, and as the owner of a small business myself, I get it. However, this whole situation stands to become a real problem, real fast. While I want to see things reopen like everyone else, this communication fiasco and disconnect between Annapolis and Oean City will leave lasting issues. I for one, will be remaining home the net three weeks. I hope that I am wrong, but I believe the Covid 19 numbers will rise quickly in Worcester, and this will present issues for our limited health care providors.

10 times the taxes? That's hard to believe.

I have no issues with people traveling, but if you get sick you need to go to your primary home to get the medical care you need. Our hospitals and doctors are overwhelmed as it is.
