No UNION! No collective “extortion”.
Get it through your heads! Police do enough of that already.
Over paid, work when they decide too, never equitable, charge who they want to and leave the rest.
The town council should be talking about pay cuts fewer benefits and slashing their budget.

Great message. I have had the pleasure of working with the men and women of the Delmar Police for 20 yrs. They do a great job in my opinion. They are simply asking their community to have their back. In this day and age it is so important that we support out Law Enforcement Officers. They have a demanding and dangerous job. I hope the community of Delmar stands with these men and women. Goodluck Delmar PD more than glad to help if you need a hand. Stay safe!

C'mon Queen Wells. We thought you had the backs of the police dept.

Collective bargaining for public employees is simply away for employees to decide how they think their designated slice of the budgetary pie would be best spent. Collective bargaining doesn't necessarily translate into runaway taxes, it simply allows the employees affected to have a voice on what's important to them. Arbitration comes in two flavors, binding and advisory. Binding is when a professional arbitrator from the outside comes in and listens to both sides. After hearing both sides, and doing some research, the arbitrator will issue an opinion that is either binding on both parties or is simply advisory, making it clear which side's position he/she supports, but that decision isn't binding on either party. A non binding ruling is a good tool, but only if both sides have been bargaining in good faith. If the issue of arbitration wasn't included in the original collective bargaining referendum question that the citizens of Delmar supported, then arbitration - whether the citizens want binding or advisory - would need to be voted on. Without good faith negotiation and binding arbitration, collective bargaining is essentially collective begging on the part of the employees as there is no mechanism in place for the jurisdiction to do anything but waste the employees' time by going through the motions of collectively bargaining.

Every time $hit like this shows up in the Town of Delmar Mare Karen Hughes rears her ugly head and Carl Anderton has his fingerprints all over it.

These Libtards need to support their police department just as the citizens demanded! Please sign the petition and support your local police!

If this doesn't work then maybe it's time for the County of Wicomico to take over all police duties in the Town of Delmar and surrounding areas.

Why does Officer Alexander's name sound familiar? Did he work for the Sheriff's office or something?

Looks like Delmar Maryland taxes will be going up. But at least the vote will be yours. Watch what you ask for you might just get it.

He lied when he said taxes wouldn’t increase.....unions only know and care about dues.....they will want the City to collect those dues automatically so that the officers can’t hold off paying, the more officers make the higher the dues, increase officers pay and benefits the taxes will have to increase to offset the additional expenses! It’s a fact, do your homework before you as a town agree to it....officers who do their jobs don’t need collective bargaining representation!

Why not all the town employees. I personally benefit more from the ones that empty the trash cans and cut the grass.

Thank God the politicians are looking out for the taxpayers for once. We are already over taxed. Many of us struggle month to month just to make ends meet. To have a third party that's not part of our town to decide how much more our taxes go up is not a good thing.

11:00 am, surely you are joking. Delmar, Md. Police Dept. is MUCH better than Salisbury, Md. Police Dept. Good grief man, what are you thinking...

1:00 you don't have a clue what you're talking about. So you're saying that in every police department if police officers to their jobs and do them well, the department and the jurisdiction they work for will take care of them? You've obviously lived a sheltered life. Get out of Delmar much?

I think a County Police force would be great and the Sheriff could focus on their primary mission, the courts.

Delmar pd has helped many of us through the years. They are there for our protection. Have you watched the news? We need them! You should hear some of the things they have prevented recently, you would be suprised!

You should just stop and talk to any of the officers, they are friendly, willing to help everyone.

Do the Arrests match the funds they get $$$$$$$$$ if not GET RID OF THEM.

I'm not a cop and I'm not a part of a union, but I am an honest person. If we allow engineers, labor, and others to have a union why should the police not when they have a very dangerous job?
