I remember the May Pole Dance around the one building and it was called the State Teachers College and the American Flag times were so much simpler then there was no racism like today and that WAS IN THE 50'S & 60's and it is so much worse now in 2019. It's a good thing that the old founders of Salisbury so not see the construction that never ends, roads that are a real hazard, a statue missing from the City Park that was there for decades. A river that is now nothing but sludge, housing in the City that is deplorable because of slumlords who pack the homes way beyond the codes they ignore check out the houses with debris in the front yards, and are never cited. Check out the one at the corner of Jackson & Lincoln Ave and the rest in the Presidents Neighborhood Assoc. just take a ride some day to '' LITTLE CHICAGO" and the stench is taking over the city, real welcoming to people looking to find homes here, and you think Jake is going to improve things well think twice, kick him out and the whole City Council one at a time, and especially Chief Hug a Thug Duncan.

Cellphones HAVE RUINED EVERYTHING.

Northwest Woodsman: Oh, to be able to return to those days! Great autos, built in America, adequate roads and communications, most of what we call modern conveniences such as refrigerators, indoor plumbing, radios, movies that were not anti American in themes and a closer knit homogeneous community with virtually no race issues. No tv or internet with their adverse impact on our culture and all in all, a much less stressful life. I recall life in the Salisbury area in the late 1940s and it was essentially crime free and as close to Mayberry RFD as one could get. I’d be glad to give up tv, computers, cell phones, etc., to return to those days.

No Racism and no Race Issues? In 1930’s Wicomico county? You are both delusional.

@October 31, 2019 at 10:54 AM. NO, it isn't cell phones that has ruined the Eastern Shore. It's the Baltimoron's who came here to live after retiring from working in Baltimore and bringing their lifestyle with them. Them and the thugs. They just do not know how to handle freedom. It's what we get when they let their kids run wild like animals and do not teach them respect or manners.
The Eastern Shore used to be a beautiful and peaceful place to live. I was born here in Salisbury in 1950. People used to be so nice and there was hardly any crime. Our beautiful Eastern Shore became infested with those Baltimoron's and over run with lousy thugs. It will never be the same.
