Petition to change Halloween to last Saturday in October gains traction

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – An online petition calling for the change of this year’s Halloween date to the last Saturday of October is getting closer to its goal.

The Change.org petition, which was launched in 2018 by the trade organization Halloween & Costume Association, has garnered more than 59,000 signatures.

The goal is 75,000 signatures.

The petition argues that moving Halloween from Thursday to Saturday would allow for more time for celebration.

“It makes more sense to have it always on a Saturday so that we don’t have to worry about getting the kids home and in bed early for school the next day.” Danielle Paris commented on the petition. “Also, for most people, they wouldn’t have to worry about working that day or the day following.”

How about more time to work for your employer so they survive as an employer?

It will be easier for me to go out to dinner the whole night on a Saturday.

I trick-or-treated for maybe 10 years when I was little.
I don't like handing out candy for 30 years to kids that aren't even from the neighborhood and are old enough to shave.

Halloween should be slowly eliminated!

They are worried about Halloween when they have massive homeless, poverty and drug issues? Yep, sounds like San Francisco all right

5:57 I feel so sorry for you and your selfish life. There are givers and takers in this world. You seem to be the latter.
Many people, like me, get joy on Halloween by seeing the smiles on kids faces when you give them their favorite candy. And yes, I'm one that gives out the FULL SIZE candy bars, because it makes the kids -even the ones that don't have a neighborhood- so flipping happy. And that makes me happy, too.
Lucky for them that there's people like me, huh?

I think Halloween should be cancelled altogether,. It's not safe any more and quite frankly, it's a pain in the rear for elderly people, not to mention the expense.

Halloween is always the night before All Saints Day for that reason.

Duh.
