From The Facebook Page of Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot

Peter Franchot

The radical anti-abortion bill signed into law yesterday by the Governor of Alabama is a malicious assault on the rights and protections of women everywhere. This bill also represents an assault on the basic values of our country and of the State of Maryland.

I obviously have no direct control over the behavior of Alabama lawmakers who would thrust their religious interpretations upon those they are paid to represent, and who choose to weaponize their system of laws to punish women who are already experiencing great vulnerability.

However, I can work to ensure that Maryland's taxpayer dollars are not used to subsidize extremism. Furthermore, experience has shown that MONEY is the one thing that matters more to people of this caliber than their religious prerogatives.

It is in that spirit that, in my capacity as Vice-Chairman of Maryland's State Retirement and Pension System, I will ask our executive management to undertake a complete and thorough review of all relationships that we have with businesses located in the State of Alabama.

This will include a full inventory of assets that are invested in Alabama-based companies, as well as all investment managers, brokers and consultants that are headquartered, or have regional offices in that state. I will ask that this review and full inventory of business relationships be presented to the Board of Trustees on an expedited basis, so that we can hopefully initiate the process of full divestment from the State of Alabama.

In the meantime, I will ask that no System employees or trustees travel to Alabama under any circumstances - be it for professional conferences or meetings with current or prospective investment partners. It is my hope that this travel restriction would be replicated throughout Maryland state government as a whole.

It is my hope that this will put the "leaders" of Alabama, and those of other states who may be contemplating abusing public laws for theocratic gratification, on notice that this is, indeed, 2019. Gratuitous attacks on the freedoms and the well-being of women will come at a prohibitive price.

How about you worry about Maryland and let Alabama worry about itself. God knows nobody wants you to give advise on anything the way you are handling your position.

States for Abortion vs States against Abortion.

I noticed that his two employees Len Foxwell and Emily Gontrum is loving on his comments. Also local Libtard Valerie Melvin Mann is liking and loving on his comments. What a bunch of Liberal D. Bags.

Frosh is the one of the worst examples of left wing extremism

Anonymous said...

What a friggin liar. He is all about spending MD taxpayer money on his brand of extremism.

10:06 was that D Bags or S Bags?

Franchot should stay in his lane. Must have been socializing with Frosh, who is a total embarrassment.

He should resign from pension board since he wants to abandon his fiduciary responsibilities to pensioners in favor of his personal preferences. Up to this point he's been far better Comptroller than he was as legislator.

No more votes for him from our household!

I've said it befor and I'll say it again, if you eliminate the need for abortions there won't be any. I would rather have my tax dollars pay for free birth control methods than support unwanted babies that will grow up to be a burden on our society in general. It's one thing to want to eliminate abortions but there are consequences that must be planned for. Free birth control is the easiest and cheapest solution to a problem that is seriously dividing our country. Also sex education starting at a young age. I hope some politicians read this and give it some real thought. I think everybody can agree it's better not to not need abortions than to need them.

Okay to use your money to boycott, not okay to use mine. Your plan of action sounds like an abuse of power and an inability to perform your job without bias.

Anonymous said...

Who gave him the right to ensure the killing of babies?

Anonymous said...

WTF do you want is to do put the condoms on for them?? Can't get much more free birth control than running down to the local health department and grabbing a handful, dumbasses!!

Now Petey takes a stand on an issue??? What about the JOB you were elected to do or is that job to gratuitous for you?

Phony little man pandering to his base.

Joe has a very spicy taco...just for you!

Franchot is forgetting his job requirements. Has he read his MS22? He needs to leave the State Employee Retirement Fund alone. Franchot has allowed the Politians in Annapolis to steal from the State Employees Fund without payment. Hogan has done nothing to stop this theft. Franchot should be removed from Vice-Chairman of Maryland's State Retirement and Pension System ASAP. He has admitted in his lies that he is not ensuring that Maryland's tax dollars are not used for subsidizing extremism. Where is this supposedly great Union that looks out for the workers? Hogan why have you not started an investigation on Franchot and his actions , since he is not representing the interest of the Maryland tax payer. That is his job. He has become another Comey.

The Democratic Party,no low they won't sink to while proclaiming virtue.

By the way, 7:28, there are free contraceptives at your local Health Dept.
So much your solutions.

Come quickly, Lord.

Doesn't say much for someone to call abortions basic values.

Anonymous said...

8:59 Thank you.

It's not about women, it's about babies. Humans, like the rest of us. Women and men alike. Again, abortion on demand is a democrat tactic to divide America for political gain. Pure and simple. No morals or values whatsoever. That's your Democrat neighbors, for you.

He is so stupid.
It isn't just female babies being murdered.
It is both female and male babies.

There is not assault on women here, it is an assault on all human life by the descendants of those who murdered Jesus Christ.

Wake up to the lies of those whose father is Satan!

7:28- Congrats. You're the idiot on this thread. How do eliminate the need for abortions? An obtuse stupid statement. Also, birth control is available for free!

Anonymous said...

Let's concentrate on voluntary conception control instead. If you don't want to become pregnant, there are many, many routes to take.

There's also the nearly unspoken concept of holding males who inseminate females 50% responsible for the entire process, from
sperm delivery to raising the outcome. Let's not be so short sighted as to think of this as only a women's issue.

Please read the comments on Franchot's thread. Franchot is even showing his ass more by arguing with his constituents.

"Furthermore, experience has shown that MONEY is the one thing that matters more to people of this caliber than their religious prerogatives."

He speaks for all of Maryland and all of its people. Is this really who we are, what we've become?

Anonymous said...

Is the comptroller now the mouthpiece for the governor?

I remember when this fool came knocking on my door about 5 years ago with Josh Hastings. They looked like a couple of misfits from the Ghetto. Neither one got my vote and never will. Thank God that little Progressive creep moved to another District. WTH are you people thinking voting for him.
