Dollar General In Salisbury

JOE- I have rarely in my 70+ years made a complaint about a store or business. But this is #2 for me Yesterday I went into the Dollar General @ 1005 Rt 13 North store to make some purchases for a bingo group that meets in Salisbury. The prizes furnished are around a dollar or so that everyone can afford. This location hasn't been opened long .I think about maybe a year and a half. The store floor was so filthy the light color was almost like walnut stain smeared everywhere but it was just filthy. The isles were littered so badly you could not get down any of them with their little shopping carts, and I mean LITTERED to the extreme, like a tornado had gone through. The shelves were not stocked the items on them were like they had been thrown. Containers of shampoos and body wash items were sticky and dirty, in fact everything was dirty, torn and rummaged through, you would think items that were sparse would have been stocked more or removed for something else. It seems like the place has been severely neglected for quite sometime, either they need new management or shut this location down. I do know the location in Fruitland is very clean, always stocked, all aisles straightened and I believe this location has been opened longer than the one at 1005 Rt 13 North. It is a nice store to find nice stuff at reasonable prices and always the ones working are pleasant. I don't know how to report the other to the health dept but I hope someone does as the location could benefit a lot of people, and I would hate to see any business close.

It's a Dollar store what did you expect ?

I can only guess that the theft rate at that store is above average. Dollar General says that they take pride in all of their stores, no matter where, so:

To contact the online store Customer Service Department by phone, please call 877-463-1553.

Give them a call. They'll be happy to make some changes.

They are all kind of trashy!

The one on Pecan square in west Salisbury is no better or the one on South Salisbury blvd is also trashy inside.

I go there because I can get some items cheap like Batteries, Men's razors, and shampoo. Even motor oil for my mower can be found cheap there.

It's never going to be nice where the poor in the community shop. You get the worst of society and of course, you get what you pay for.

The Dollar Tree in North Salisbury is also very trashy inside. The floors look like they haven't seen a broom or a mop in months! I've seen merchandise spilled into the isles, but like Dollar General, it's good place to find bargains cheap.

#2:41, I don't care if it a nickel store there is no reason to have a business like this open to the public. If I were the gentleman I would get on my PC and contact corporate and let them know

I do believe manager has changed. I shop there a lot. I have noticed in the past 3 months it has certainly gone DOWN HILL. I agree with the person who sent in the message about this shop.

Bingo!

I was in the one at Pecan Square a few months ago and they had these big carts in the aisles with inventory on it and you couldnt get past it.

Fire Marshall would have been interested in that scenario.

These people are overworked and under paid. If you've never done the job keep your mouth shut. You don't have a clue. Its no excuse for the condition of the store but I would look up the ladder before you bash the lower rungs.

@3:46

Overworked or underpaid, doesn't matter, you are hired to do a job, do it. Don't make excuses for lazy people. They knew the job before they accepted it.

I've seen many of the employees walking around the store with nothing but their cellphone in their hand texting away.

It's all about management.
A poorly managed place usually looks the part. Ask anybody who owns a business.

There are Dollar General stores that are kept clean and have well kept shelves, etc. There's one in Cambridge that's a gem.

I have been saying the same thing about this one for about 6 months now! Who in the world owns that one. Shelves are never stocked. The one in the Reilly’s shopping center is the best one in Salisbury hands down. Those employees really work in there. They are always walking around stocking shelves and cleaning!

The one in Cambridge is closed but Mardela's is always clean and the staff friendly.

It's the F'ing clientele be honest. Look at your city/county streets. The whole area looks like a landfill until they put on one of the popularity Fiasco's. You live on a city full of third world refugees

I am so dissatisfied with the poor way so many of the stores in Salisbury are kept that I go elsewhere for much of my shopping. The store manager should be the one responsible for keeping a store in good condition. Do regional reps visit these stores?

5:46 PM, Where is Reilly's shopping center?

Well instead of going there every other day for your cheap browsing shopping outting fix save your money and go some where nice once a month. It's not Tiffanys. These are the same people that tie up a table at lunch for two hours sipping coffee and steal all the equal and napkins and leave the waitress coins like it's 1950. Really people ? Bitching about the Dollar Store.
Try the Library it's free. Oh never mind it's a further walk from the handicap spots.

Amen so true. No mystery here

That's why minimum wage needs to be raised to $15 / hour.

10:55...and then you’ll see the dollar items become $5 items, and less people in the store working.

They are building a new store to replace the Twilley Centre DG, just up Mt Hermon Road. All others will also be replaced with new stores in the near future. Next is the one in near Ollies.
They can't keep good help. 18 Year olds don't want to work period. So they get the best of the worst. And you wonder why illegals are so popular? They will work and do a great job.
The overall customers that shop there, for the most part leave the store in a wreck daily.
The stores are not in good shape. But will be improving.
There stock price is 20 dollars higher per share than Walmart. They are doing something right.

Mardela Springs and Sharptown stores are spotless. Maybe it's the "ghetto locations" that are the problem.

Anonymous said...

They are all understaffed that is why their stock is so high.

Anonymous said...

It's the neighborhood, not the store. It's the customers that trash it. It the way they leave it when they've stolen everything they want. Put a store in a pig sty neighborhood, and it becomes a part of the pig sty.

8:56 you're the one that needs the handicapped slots but for your mouth not your vehicle. The majority of us try to save $ anyway we can Social Security doesn't cut it, I worked 47 years I bet you never worked a day.

Anonymous said...

Look at the neighborhood it is in. There your explanation as to why it looks like that. It's the customers who do it. Bunch of low life's who get their stuff for free.

If you have any questions about this just go to city of Salisbury demographics and be enlightened

Anonymous said...

Salisbury MD employment D-, crime F, schools F, population density 398% higher than Maryland average, 2505% higher than National average. Old Jake day continues to prove he's just an absolute jackass!! What kind of stores and clientele do you expect with this type of community??

Anonymous said...

8:56- Ya got issues. You sound backed up. I suggest you go to DG for some laxatives.

Anonymous said...

10:31-That's the fault of the GM, not corporate. Same with store presentation. Their stock is up due to the current aggressive building initiative. There are more DG's being built than any other business.

Anonymous said...

@9:58 yet Day and Culver continue to let the local rental property mafia build apartment complexes with population density numbers that?? Who's getting their palms greased in these kind of deals

Anonymous said...

Not to mention SU... they have to tons of unused retail spaces and that looks horrible For the city as well..and yet they are building more
