Berlin Residents Hammer Council On Major Tax, Fee Increase Plan; Special Budget Meeting Planned For March 26

BERLIN – Calls for the town to cut expenses and sell Berlin Falls Park highlighted a town council meeting Monday.

Dozens of Berlin residents attended a Berlin Town Council meeting this week, primarily to voice their concerns about the potential 34-percent tax increase being discussed by elected officials.

“Berlin Falls Park is a boondoggle,” resident Jim Meckley said. “It is dragging this place down.”

Mayor Gee Williams told those in attendance this week that the budget process had only just begun. Expenses had been greater than expected in recent years, he explained, and the town had been forced to use its reserves to supplement utility operations. He pointed out that 57 percent of the town’s costs related to public safety and capital expenses.

Gee Williams, Mayor for Life, never met a tax he didn't like.

Good for them. Time for people to take their towns and cities back from the LIBUTARDS.

The residents are getting exactly what they voted for. The mayor's a simpleton stooge who always looks and acts like he has half a load on. What did the foolish voters think. Everything they put on over there is for drunks and costs tax payers money. One party after another will take a town broke and that is exactly what is happening. Only thing to do now is vote the half wit out and get someone in there with a working brain and not someone worrying about drinking parties all the time.

Everyone should participate or at least be aware of all decisions being made. I hate that most people don't seem to care about anything that is decided on until someone explains how it will affect them.

The towns biggest complainer Kim Holloway sure didn't have an issue when her husband was bringing home a 6 figure salary and lucrative retirement paid for by the citizens of Ocean City. Now milking the citizens of Snow Hill for another big paycheck. Can you say hypocrite !! Go cry to Mary Beth Carozza again !!
