Figured you’d like to see this. Don’t you think that looks like the guide wire for that tower? If it’s the case anyone in the surrounding area of Dun Swamp Rd in Pocomoke is at risk of being hurt or killed WHEN that tower falls. That tower could fall and hit the Pocomoke beltway or Dunn Swamp Road with any strong storm that comes in.
That tower is an AM tower for 540. Worcester County and the FCC should do something. The FCC has been notified but seems to have fallen on deaf ears. Bay Broadcasting, operated by Michael J. Powell, and Birach Broadcasting who is the licensee of WGOP AM 540 do not seem to care about the condition, and it needs to be shown that this is a severe issue that could hurt or kill someone.

That's ridiculous, the county needs to step in ASAP and do something about this. And they should lose their license for that.
Big surprise here. These stations are always off the air, or at reduced signal strength. Also they have been contracted to carry University of MD Terps basketball and Football and never run the games. Same with Ravens and Orioles.
This man is nuts. I know him personally. He spends all his time obsessing over other radio stations and not looking after his own. That building needs to be condemned. I drive by it every day on my way to work for a real radio station. He should be ashamed of his antics and these stations
I guess someone found some time between funneling clients from his agency to keep his radio stations on air to pick on the little guys that are trying to do radio the right way. Must be tough owning radio stations with no ratings and explaining to your agency clients as to why you're placing their hard earned money on your stations and not the ones in the market that actually have ratings.
A; It’s a Guy Wire, not a guide wire.

A guy-wire, guy-line, guy-rope or guide-wire, also known as simply a guy, is a tensioned cable designed to add stability to a free-standing structure. They are used commonly in ship masts, radio masts, wind turbines, utility poles, fire service extension ladders used in church raises and tents. A thin vertical mast supported by guy wires is called a guyed mast.
I counted 7 OTHER guy-wires (guide-wires) holding the tower in place, and probably more not included in this pic. Sure it should be addressed but I don't think it will fall due to one wire not doing its' job.
Pocomoke beltway? LMAO!
Awww, didn't anyone respond to your cries? It is a needed repair, but no way dangerous. That's why everyone ignores the one who cries wolf. If you are some kind of Tower Engineer, then why don't YOU prove "this is a severe issue that could hurt or kill someone?"
@July 12, 2018 at 12:58 pm, Why don't you prove it isn't a severe issue?? Now just go away, everything will be fine.
As a radio engineer this can very well be a severe issue. This picture looks like the wire is compromised which weakens the entire structure so yes, it would be a severe problem. If the tower were to collapse it would not be supported as it is supposed to be. Definitely should be addressed by the FCC, FAA, and county
