Residents Of This State Pay The Highest Taxes In The US

Last week we reported that residents of New Jersey were about to enter the 9th circle of financial hell as the state, fast approaching a fiscal, economic and budgetary catastrophe, was preparing to raise taxes on "almost everything."

But if New Jerseyans are approaching a tax inferno, residents of Illinois are already there.

According to a recent analysis by WalletHub, Illinoisans pay $8,300 per home in various state and local taxes, more than any other state in the nation. In the annual ranking of taxpayer burden by state, WalletHub found that Illinois households give up just under 15% of their annual earnings to pay state and local taxes, over 1 percent more than residents of the second highest taxed state, Connecticut with 13.85%. Of course, they also pay federal taxes on top of that.

I get slammed every year by Maryland because my wife works in Delaware. I always owe money to both states even though We both claim 0 deductions to get the max taken out. Double taxation and then comes the License Tag renewal, and then later in the summer the property tax bill of over 2500 dollars!

There is no way to get ahead in this state. Little to no jobs here, so my family has to look at neighboring Delaware for work and then you get penalized for working out of state to survive because there are few jobs here.

MD and OC love...no, love is to harsh a word.

MD and OC rely on taxes since they are unable to curb spending! Ricky building that $3M wall in the middle of coastal highway as a deterrent for drunks (from seacrets) to use the cross-walks rather than jay-walking!

MD legislature continuing to spend more in one hand, than they collect in the other. Years...DECADES of this reckless behavior, resulted in the heavy taxes bestowed on MD today.

When will this tragedy stop?
