All too often during times like this blizzard people complain because they see snow plows riding down the road not plowing at all. First of all, have you ever seen a map of the City of Salisbury? It will blow you away.
Did you know that the County is forbidden to use their plows on state roads and City of Salisbury roads. That's a fact. So when you see a county plow riding along with their blade up, now you know why. Another reason you might see a plow blade in the upright position is because they blew a hydraulic line.
The county has 720 miles of roads to plow and let me assure you, the county is doing a far better job clearing the roads then the City. In fact, the City is using huge trucks to clear side roads when they should be using pickup trucks.
The County has 44 snow plows on the road right now and get this, County Executive Culver and Councilman Joe Holloway are on the roads right now as we speak driving these vehicles and clearing the roads.
This is Pennsylvania Ave in Salisbury. This is what you get when you use monster trucks with blades on them. This is exactly why the City should be using pickup trucks on the side streets.

I appreciate your attempt to give them a pass but in our neighborhood in city limits, a city pick up truck with a plow drove up and down our street for 2 days and never once plowed.
But if you go to the unused vacant street behind the twilley center adjoining the rubble pile - there is not a snowflake to be found.
Maybe you can explain why they spent hours plowing an unused street and left ours unplowed for days..
Yesterday a plow took one pass down the middle of the street. Its better than nothing..
Maybe they should make better use of their time and if they happen to be driving down an unplowed street, drop the plow. It makes absolutely no sense not to.
I will have a plow for my truck by next fall. Noway I'm going through this again. I still don't have mail! Post office TOLD ME NOT to come pick it up to CALL at 900am. The next morning I CALLED AT 900am she rudely told me the mail was on the rural mail truck and I COULD NOT HAVE IT PULLED FOR TODAY even though I called yesterday. All my outstanding payments will start bouncing because I can't get my Mail that I'm WILLING TO PICK UP. I called today and was told 400 missed calls and she hung up on me???!
Thank you County Executive Culver and Councilman Joe Holloway for your service. There is still no explanation for plows in the air. If you are off your turf scratch the other guys back and he should do the same. The goal is to clear the roads, not resist each other. If policy has to be changed, do so. We all live here and are taught to share from youth. Sure a mechanical failure will occur, but I don't buy that for a excuse as many plows are being up. If so maintenance should get a grip on it. Plows are only used a few times during the winter.
They don't care as long as they can get through the snow in their big trucks.
Get those damn side walks clear or suffer the fines!
Mr. Culver and Mr .Holloway,
Good for you!
Jake Day has the city employees going around to fine people for not cleaaring sidewalks instead of clearing the city streets.
We embrace the "DAY" when Jakey is no where to be found, let alone in charge!
I have yet to see or hear of anyone cited for a snow covered sidewalk. Is this just Salisbury urban myth, or can someone simply step up with a copy of a citation (redacted, even) that will support these claims?
Pennsylvania Avenue's pictures are from plowing by a private contractor, not the city. He did driveways and parking spots up and down the street with a big pickup truck and plow. The city has yet to show up.
Looks better than my road in the County. Still have snow drifts and one lane. While a road 1 mile away is almost spotless. Explain that.
Rockwalkin should be closed you can only drive one way on half of it due to deep drifting someone is going to get killed. It’s like they gave up plowing today because tempatures are rising Monday. Only plows I see out are the states.
No streets plowed anywhere near our neighborhood. South of the park.
60 degrees expected on Thursday. This snow will be a memory ten days from now.
Yeah, 6:12, but the fines will still be due.
Seen Joe yesterday in a plow truck he stopped and we pushed a stuck car out ,good guy
We live in the state of Maryland, we live in the county of Wicomico, we live in the city of Salisbury. So why is it that every one of these plows do not plow ALL streets , roads, highways, etc. in the state of Maryland? WE the tax payers pay for those trucks and the people who drive them. Earn your damn money and plow ALL roads. Not allowed? You fools are full of crap.
