rt50, rt13 Nanticoke Rd Beglin Pr Dr. etc Main roads and secondary connectors are "clear", not snow or ice free but passable. Every side road I have seen in Salz has not been plowed.
If you have a car or a 2wd pick up stay to the main roads. You run a very high risk of getting stuck in this snow unless you have 4wd. Even then the snow is very deep in certain areas.
I drive a 04 4wd suburban that eats snow. Very heavy and has aggressive tread on tires. Every person I saw yesterday and today that was stuck was a 2wd vehicle.
If you have to drive waht a quite youtube video on how to get yourself unstuck .
Nanticoke state road in good condition , can see all black top except a few areas where to snow drifts over. When it drifts over it's not deep. Black roads matter.
50 between Hebron and Salisbury fine, 50 Bypass is fine, 13 from Arbys to Delaware is fine. Main Street Extended in Hebron is clear, as it Lillian Street, but SHA blocked the 50 end of it with a snow bank, so use Main Street to get into Hebron.
Snow Hill rd was good, College Ave and S. Division was Ok. Be careful in the intersections and entrance ways to businesses. ALl the back roads are awful. Just be smart
13 is still snow/ ice covered plowed but still slick north end Too bad locals don't know how to put plows down to be effective. back roads are still ugly and drifts are reforming.
The drifting in Delaware, where bare fields border miles and miles of 13 and 90% of its rural roads, is as expected, which is severe. Avoid travel unless in dire need. Running out of smokes and booze may not qualify except for the very few.
Meadowbridge Road from Fruitland to County Line is impassable due to abandoned cars and now a tractor trailer stuck. four foot snow drifts across the road.
They're trying to get the snow emergency routes in the city cleared first. Tough job with the wind and temperatures. The side streets, as always, will wait, except for the few. It's probably a good guess that the mayor's little street is plowed.
main roads aren't to bad considering the snow amounts and the winds. Hey dumb people slow down or just stay off the roads and if you see a lot of snow and don't have four wheel drive DON'T drive through it. The city side roads are the worst. City tax money at its best
I'm on White Lowe Road. Was plowed once, but snow drifts have covered it over once again. Road not passable unless you have a four wheel drive truck or SUV. I know the county is trying their best so I am not complaining.
Main roads are passable but lane width is diminished, most secondary roads in the city are almost impassable. The worst part are the lookie Lou's riding around getting in the way and creating dangerous travel conditions.
First let me say, I'm no Harvard graduate. So I'm not the smartest person on this comment section. Why do county, etc. plows run the roads with the blade up. There just may be more trucks that pass my residence with the blade up than down. There is plenty of product on the road that needs plowing. With that I will say I'm positive there are many explanations that I'm not familiar with. Maybe letting the blade cool off from working overtime or could it be the driver is on break and doesn't want to work off the clock. I'm not complaining because I don't or won't leave until it is in better shape. Just my simple, dumb ass humble opinion. Thank you
Anonymous said... Joe, look at this video and watch Jake Day tell the reporter that everyone has to have their sidewalks shoveled by 3:00 PM today, January 5, 2018 or the city will be issuing some "hefty fines."
Esham Road in Parsonsburg is not passable even with 4wheel drive! Snow plow came down got stuck had an escavator come get them out and have not been back since. I hope we don't need emergency medical attention we will not get it!

January 5, 2018 at 1:40 PM
You mean they are driving too cautiously and you can't blow past them?
Dear Handicap: If you can type on a blog, you can find someone to clear the snow from your sidewalk. If someone slips/falls/gets hurt on your uncleared sidewalk, it will be you that is getting sued.
3:43 How does one get to them if the Boy Mayor wants everyone to stay off the roads? How does one get down residential roads if they have not been plowed? What if they have already contacted someone to come clean their sidewalk and that person has 10 jobs in front of theirs? Why doesn't the city have a time frame in which all the roads must be cleared but the people that pay their salaries do?
Mt. Hermon Church Road which everyone uses as a through road to Snow Hill Road from Mt. Hermon Road is completely closed with at least 4 - 5 ft snow drifts blocking the road at curve after turning off of Mt. Hermon Road. No snow plows at all today. No one can get through.
2:43 I had my suspicions about this house. It's known as the party house, but I never suspected this was going on, on my road. I'm afraid the road is now impassable. It's completely covered over with 5' drifts. No one is going anywhere on this road. At least the Royal Farms store is withing walking distance if I should need anything. I have head and Propane for backup if the electricity goes out, so all I can do is wait until a snow plow comes and clears this road. I've been living here for over 30 years, but have never see it this bad! A little global warming would be a blessing right now!!!
4:00 in this case, the "product" would be a substance that snowmen are crafted from. That be what the hell "product" is. For some slower inquisitive subject's, it could be "anything" in front of a plow (if the blade is lowered) in the working position. Doubt this "hep's" you, but you be mighty welcome now, you hear.
West ocean city is a mess. Avoid Golf Course Road (north). It is down to one lane due to drifting snow. Roads are covered. Have not seen a snow plow on my street yet.
Airport Rd and Mt. Hermon church Rd.are not good at all inexperienced plow truck drivers are to blame for that came through today had a county or may have been a state truck pass me at Johnson Rd heading to RT 12 got up the road about half a mile and didn't even look like it was plowed only one lane with at least 8" of snow on it by the airport. hosing the clock on tax payers dime
589 clear - ocean parkway in the pines is passable but by no means clear - anything off ocean parkway is a mess - ocean gateway is pretty much a single lane with all the sides streets impassable in OC
Ocean City is on the ball. As far as I can tell, all of the side streets have been plowed and passible. Good job city officials. I will say the state highway guys wiped out my business mailbox in west O. But, not a big deal. Enjoy the snow everyone.
I have an idea, lets get some of the criminals in jail (with heat, 3 squares, watching tv,playing cards etc) out to shovel the driveways that have been sealed off, and all the sidewalks. If they had to work they might think twice about their crime sprees.
OMG. I drove down Rt. 9 today, both ways. Going west wasn't too bad and it was daylight. Coming back was an entirely different story. Outside of Geotown one car was going 30 mph at most when the speed limit was 50 and the road was clear.
The van behind him was tailgating about 5 feet from his bumper so maybe that is the reason, I don't know. I finally got a chance to pass them after being forced to follow them for a few miles. Checking my rearview mirror every now and then they continued that parade until I lost them.
Then the fun REALLY began. I came upon a line of vehicles (10-15) going 30 mph. Whoever was in front must have been scared, of a CLEAR road yet again. The ones following it must have been scared of passing it too. I would have loved to pass all of them (when I could find a section of road to do so), but if I had to pull over for a car coming the opposite way I would be screwed. Of course, no one leaves any space between them for a vehicle to fit. (which btw is illegal)
Finally get to rt 1` and get past most of them. Wouldn't you know the van ahead of me jumps in the left lane poking along with no one in front of it. GRRR.
Going the opposite way on rt 1 to home, same freaking thing. They want to go slow (which is fine if you are not obstructing traffic behind you) and do their damnest to not let anyone go around them.
I mean come on. Why do people have to act so flipping ignorant?
I swear, one day I'm gonna snap and treat them like I was in the wild wild west. (when I'm ready to give up the ghost)
You get out there and take in all those weather conditions and the large amount of hours worked and do a better job if not keep your mouth shut and take the bridge back across yuppie
Today the Daily Times reported that every city street in Salisbury had been cleared by Saturday morning. I haven't been out but I sincerely doubt that happened.
10:32 - I do not see how schools could open - while the main roads are somewhat clear, the secondary roads are nowhere near passable - I personally think it would be dangerous and irresponsible to open; interested parties could certainly call the school system and leave a message for them with concerned thoughts - 410-677-4000
Dear 10:53 - at this time the school system will make no determination before 6 pm this evening, if at all. From personal experience in this decision making process, it is much more likely that the decision will be made in the morning. Given the fact that this is the first time in over 25 years a real blizzard has occurred, I would advise the superintendent to make the call early so parents can make plans a far in advance as possible. Typically, the school system will cite multiple concerns, with the service to the underprivileged being chief amongst them, which is a lie, plain and simple. At this point I would expect that the good Dr. has already petitioned the state BOE for forgiveness of the two days missed due to state of emergency, so in reality, the days missed are a non issue. Further, lost instructional time will be cited, but that is a lie as well. With common core in tatters, and no clear direction with state testing, this is meaningless as well. Look for a call in ththe morning; I would be pleasantly surprised if the school system shows real concern for students and their families by making the call early.
Mayor Day’s too busy planning folk festival. Doesn’t have time for blizards. Don’t ya know the priorities here. Your convenience is not the City Hall or the county’s concern. Please.
My 90 year old dad’s road hasn’t been plowed even once and he lives in a good neighborhood in Wicomico. He hasn’t even gotten any mail for three days. I hope he doesn’t have any medical emergencies because if that happens Culver is going to be my second call.
What street?give them a call. They will respond I’m Sure. On My street the plow went up and down both sides twice. I have no seen since which is ok with me even though you can not see pavement. You could barley see the pavement on 13 yesterday, now only the turn lanes on 13 are bad. I did receive mail all days but Thursday. My mail man actually got out of his vehicle to put mail in our box.
Funny how business parking lots are mostly nice and clear but the secondary roads and off the main drag city streets are still plugged up with snow. Maybe the city and county should hire those guys.
Same here I had to hire a plow truck 400 dollars to plow in front of his house on country road in neighborhood. Post office is a joke. Mail will be two weeks backed up.
South and East of Snow Hill, some back roads were completely drifted over with + six foot drifts. I have pictures from where they were finally able to bust open the drifts on Sunday, and the snow is piled up a foot higher than my 4 wheel drive truck. Its like driving through a tunnel. It's been a long time since I've seen anything like this!

I haven't ventured out, I am too busy shoveling my sidewalk in subzero weather
Rt. 13 North past WaWa. Can barely see the lines on the road. Turns off of Rt. 13 can be tricky unless you can follow someone else's tire marks.
50 between Hebron and Salisbury fine, 50 Bypass is fine, 13 from Arbys to Delaware is fine. Main Street Extended in Hebron is clear, as it Lillian Street, but SHA blocked the 50 end of it with a snow bank, so use Main Street to get into Hebron.

back roads are still ugly and drifts are reforming.
Foskey Lane keeps getting drifted in by blowing snow coming from the field. Saw 3 cars stuck there last night.
Looks like other Websites are following our lead, FIGURES. "Since there are so many, please post roads that are completely impassable"
The drifting in Delaware, where bare fields border miles and miles of 13 and 90% of its rural roads, is as expected, which is severe. Avoid travel unless in dire need. Running out of smokes and booze may not qualify except for the very few.
US 1 in the Keys is clear.
Forgot to add heroin and cocaine. My mistake.
WOODBROOKE DRIVE SALISBURY - NOT PLOWED. NEED 4WD TO PASS
I saw that Joe. Wonder how those reflectors work on snow covered roads to find a water hydrant. Idiots to even think they would work.
Side roads in the city of Salisbury are a joke...many have yet to see a plow..and I wonder how those blue reflectors are doing!!?!?!?!
South division street is also a joke come on we need a plow funny they can do south blvd no problem jsmdh
Meadowbridge Road from Fruitland to County Line is impassable due to abandoned cars and now a tractor trailer stuck. four foot snow drifts across the road.

N and S Saratoga off E Main have not seen a plow
Snow hill road ramp not plowed, robins Ave was closed by sheriff's Dept, toadvine impassable.
Doesn't snow that often, idiot. So yes they do help the majority of the time.
Main roads are passable but lane width is diminished, most secondary roads in the city are almost impassable. The worst part are the lookie Lou's riding around getting in the way and creating dangerous travel conditions.

Glad White Lowe is open, I need to get some drugs. Oh snap, they got busted.
1:47 PM yea we have been watching them drive up the street including yesterday with the plow up. and our street has still not been plowed.

You mean they are driving too cautiously and you can't blow past them?
Connelly Mill road on the Jersey Road side is closed. Looked lime the just piled snow up to close it.
Not of the plows rip them off the road because they weren’t recessed, idiot.

3:43. NO you can't Been tryin all day & NO RESPONSE from anybody.
Seems like the city dropped the ball this storm with the plow situation. Someone should ask the mayor what the hold up is.
3:43 PM moron, no one is walking around in sub zero weather

If you're of the clock your off the road
No need to be out
8:48 We seen plenty of people out walking around and having fun playing in the snow. So quick to call names, did you even get past 8th grade?

Regency Drive never seen a plow.
