Kmart In Salisbury To Close Their Doors In April 2018

Sears Holdings continues its strategic assessment of the productivity of our Kmart and Sears store base and will continue to right size our store footprint in number and size. In the process, as previously announced we will continue to close some unprofitable stores as we transform our business model so that our physical store footprint and our digital capabilities match the needs and preferences of our members. The company on Thursday, January 4 informed associates at 64 Kmart stores and 39 Sears stores that we will be closing these stores between early March and early April 2018.

Eligible associates impacted by these store closures will receive severance and will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at area Kmart or Sears stores. Customers can use the store locator function on our web sites to find the location of their nearest Kmart and Sears stores. Liquidation sales will begin as early as January 12 at these closing stores. Following is a complete list of the impacted stores.

What will become of that shopping center? Will it become another derelict property like the old mall?

I feel bad for the workers. Especially because there are no decent jobs around here

Really, really sad. So, where do we go that live on the eastside of Wicomico? Oh, Wal-Mart. Now the traffic is going to be worse. I loved K-Mart. We knew it was coming when they closed the pharmacy and never had many cashiers open.

Still very sad.

Good riddance, to both the Kmart is Salisbury and Sears Holdings. Just pull the plug already, Eddie!

Sad. Close to my home and I know plenty of people on the East side of Salisbury that prefer it to Walmart. They will be missed. Haven't entered Target since their bathroom announcement. Sorry for the people about to lose their jobs. :-(

One of the cashiers at Target told me they are going to renovate that store sometime this spring, and they will have a bigger food selection.

@8:36 There are actually several businesses in that shopping center. However, it's not good to see the biggest one close.

Until Target changes their bathroom policies, I'll never go back there.

I can tell you exactly why this Kmart is shutting down and it is directly attributed to those very workers. My son worked at that Kmart for 3 weeks and quit after being threatened and damn near assaulted by those poor, poor workers, who btw, rarely worked. If you’ve been in that Kmart no further explanation is needed.

Sears in Salisbury should be on the list soon!

I could see this coming many months ago. Store had gotten sloppy

Bathroom policies, still kicking that around. You all keep protesting, I'll keep getting those nice deals with my card, with scanning the products AND coupons!

Sometimes you have to draw the line and reality over beliefs must take precedence! Or keep on b*tchin/moanin

I heard that after they changed managers, this was going to happen.

11:58, you are welcome to your deals. I'm not complaining about anything, just exercising my freedom to shop where I want. I'll spend a few more dollars somewhere else and use the bathroom without wondering if some pervert will walk in.

1155-So you know, you're just buying cheap crap at target. It's the liberal version of walmart.

Completely agree! I've been in that store MAYBE 4 times in the last 3 years and every single time the associates were screwing off or rude as hell. Even asked a manager for help getting a bike off the top rung and he blatantly told me "I don't have time for this right now"... there was maybe 15 people in the store so why he didn't have time is beyond me. The cashiers were lazy and rude. Definitely no loss to the area and the workers are to blame for the stores failing. I'm not going to invest my money in a store filled with ignorance!

I canceled my Sears card 4 months ago, when Sears sent me a letter threatening to cancel my account after 30 year if I don't use my Sears card by 12/31/2017 because I had not used it in over a year.
I beat them to the punch and canceled my card and told them to close my account. The funny thing is, in November they sent me a new card without my permission after closing my account. I immediately cut it up.
Over the years I have purchased all of my appliances, lawn equipment and TV's from sears. When I found out they had sold the Craftsman line of tools, and closed the electronics department, I decided I was through with them.
Like Wards, it's a sad end to what was once a great company and retail establishment.

Really sad for the Seniors on this
side of town. Don't like going to
Wal Mart because of traffic.
It's sad!
