How bad is it?
Pricing labels at a Seattle Costco have garnered much attention because they show just how much soda and other sugary drinks now cost Seattle residents. A CBS News manager tweeted pictures showing the price increase of two drinks.
In the first case, the price of a case of Dr. Pepper (36 cans) nearly doubled. According to the picture, Costco sells the soda for $9.99. But with an added tax of $7.56, the soda now costs customers $17.55. In the second case, Costco sells a case of Gatorade for $15.99. But the tax adds $10.34 to the price, which brings the total cost to $26.33.

People will just get their sodas, etc. from outside the city limits, just like New York and cigarettes.

That's exactly what retailers need to do,show people how much their politicians are screwing them.
and that's on the wholesale level. What does this look like at retail? Americans can stand to not drink that crap anyway.
10:01 and soon we will be reading about people being arrested for smuggling sodas across state lines and the one day will come when some poor soul is shot and killed by the police for smuggling soda.

Hey, it's still cheaper than the cost of health problems in the future. Call this paying for your diabetes and obesity related health problems up front.
Hopefully people will now consider making better life choices and stop drinking that poison.

Montgomery County has been doing this for many many years. An additional country sales tax on soda's, booze, cigs and gas. The area grocery stores (giant, food lion, harris teeter, etc) have had to create a completely different (additional) sales paper just for Montgomery County customers.
I understand Montgomery County doing this years ago to fix a budget impasse but over the last 30 years? What is it paying now? I hope no one on the county board THINKS anyone outside of Monkey County would shop their stores, cuz it aint happening. Especially for booze. Its almost as if you get punished for living in Montgomery County!
