Who Owns The Mayor & City Council, The Local Media Does, That's Who

No matter which way you look at it, this deal is corrupt inside and out. I mean, who remembers the City changing the legislation from the original contract of sale stating any usage must be arts & entertainment to, well, anything you want, all at taxpayers expense. No one remembers that happening!

The City and County spend millions of dollars in advertising and it is now extremely evident that one hand is washing the other. Keep in mind as well Folks, the City continues to GIVE the Daily Times huge tax breaks, even though they continue to downsize employees and they do not print the newspaper here.

Just the Good Ol' Boys slapping you right in the face, right out in the open.

I'm so tired of being slapped in the face all the time but it will never stop. I study the candidates before I vote, but that is also rigged, so it seems no matter what, Salisbury residents are screwed.

I guess it would have been better to leave the building vacant and uncared for?

According to the SDAT website, the City of Salisbury still owns the building and land at 201 S Division Street. It never sold it to anyone, which means Headquarters Live was just an occupant of the City's building. I wonder how much rent was paid and they still went belly up?

How much rent do you think the Daily Disappointment is paying to rent the place from the City?

What a sweetheart deal that must be!

The address for the Firehouse is 115 not 201, 836AM and it's OWNED by DEVCO. All you have to do to verify is google Headquarters Live and the address is 115. QUIT SPREADING FAKE NEWS!

Of course, we all know the city's tie-in with DEVCO and how the two work hand in hand.

8:34, aka Jake, Is that all you've got? Funny, you don't seem to be so concerned about the thousands of other empty buildings throughout Salisbury but this one is owned by your friends. Funny how the building sat empty for years before it was gifted to those very same friends and no one was concerned then either.

It's just like virtually everything else in Salisbury's economy, the whole town looks to have gone belly-up. The only beneficiaries are the politicians that get to dip into the taxpayers kitty. And the press wants to try and convince me that slavery has been banished? I'll tell you who the enslaved people are in Salisbury - it's the poor taxpayers.

How much was it that you offered them (CASH) for that building, Joe? And they REFUSED it?

Maybe they need a little help with their memory.

Look at the sign, delmarvanow. They have dropped so low in popularity they don't even call themselves the daily times any more.

WBOC the liberal fake news station does not look out for Salisbury citizens just the crooked politicians.

There is a deed recorded which can be viewed at mdlandrec.net. The city does not own the property. The deed states it is to be used for the benefit of the city or something to that effect. If any of the language was changed nothing reflects it.

It's owned by "Devreco LLC." Everyone know who that is. Paragraph #5 of the deed dutifully recorded in the land records of Wic Co states:

WHEREAS, the City, through its Mayor and City Council, determined that the sale and transfer of the within described property should be conditioned upon and required a commitment from the Purchaser to develop the property in such a manner as will best promote and support the City and which will promote development, raise the City's tax base, make effective use of past investment and capital improvement and prevent land speculation, on account of which the disposition contract aforesaid set forth certain conditions, and the within Grantee joins in the execution of this deed for purpose of assenting to certain covenants and conditions which shall run with the land and be binding upon the land for the benefit and in favor of the City.

The question that escapes most of you is, why did the Daily Times give up their own building to go around town renting? If they were ceasing to print in Salisbury, then the building would have freed up a lot of space where the presses used to be in order to have more employees if they needed room. Doesn't make any sense they have taken on their gypsy triad around town when they had a perfectly good, centrally located building until they moved out to the industrial park. What a bad move and USA Today is supposed to be financially savvy? Yeah, right.

This crap has been going on forever. Check out city's hud program the airport all the other little commissions where they are all feathering their nests at the publics expense. U folks haven't got a clue how bad it really is.

If this area has real journalists and not the half assed half wit rejects that it has someone would be on this. Not the DT's of course but one of the other papers or the broadcast news. The Dispatch was covering Sby they should investigate this scam by the BS artist liars Day and the rest of the useless council.

The DT was in a building the size of a warehouse and the expense was killing them.

Joe,

And, now, the rest of the story (RIP, Paul Harvey) ---

This is at the bottom of the City Council's agenda for a meeting in October, listing coming events:  Ord. No. ___ - 1st reading - Daily Times Parking

They want to designate the parking near the old fire station downdown for exclusive use by the DT.

Whatever Gillis wants, he gets!

11/5@ 6:30 PM - Who parked in those spaces when Headquarters Live leased the building?

Actually I have no problem with employees and their customers having marked spaces for exclusive use of the DT

That's beside the point.
