BOSTON (CBS) — For most of the 2016 season, the NFL largely blamed the U.S. presidential election for a decline in TV ratings. But with the league’s numbers down another 7.5 percent so far in 2017, amid a growing backlash to players’ national anthem protests, the owners are finally taking the ratings decline seriously.
A new column by The MMQB’s Albert Breer details some of the stats related to the NFL’s dropping TV ratings, and the way it affected a private meeting between players and owners on Tuesday and Wednesday at the NFL League Office in New York. He says the falling TV ratings “might just be the first proof” that the continued “discord” over player protests is negatively impacting everyone’s bottom line.
Due to the ratings figures and the owners’ reaction to them, Breer deduced that recent comments made by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones – which threatened to punish players who do not stand during the national anthem – were actually meant to connect with disgruntled TV viewers, those who are deciding to tune out the NFL in response to players’ decisions to kneel or otherwise protest during the anthem.

The NFL is a slave to the networks who are behind the whole anti American kneeling thing...They are losing money so now you'll see a change.
It was much easier to stop watching all NFL games than I thought it would be. I now have time for other activities and am getting more done around the house. Life is actually better.
Rule number 1, the customer is always right. WE ARE THE CUSTOMERS DUMBASSES
NFL?? What's that?
I never realized how much time I was wasting watching these overpaid athletes. Think about it: most games exceed 3 hours. That's 3 hours you'll never get back. and if you watch more than 1 game, jeez!
My yard is looking better, my dog loves the attention, and so does my wife. And the last few Sunday's have been beautiful days and I would have wasted them sitting on the couch eating salty snacks and cheap beer.
I'm still drinking the beer, 214, just not Bud and Miller. A few local craft beers, some hunting and fishing, and Baseball do the trick!
No more Papa Johns, either. Making my own is easy and fun.
They have no idea about the power of the heartbeat of Americans!
207 It stands for the National Felon League. Instead of worrying about made up police brutality and shootings they should clean their own house of the mostly criminals the NFL is made up of.
Anyone still watching any NFL games support thugs.

I don't remember his name but one baseball player also has kneeled.
Good. Then our families Sunday trips to the zoo, or picnics, etc., and spending time with OUR family on Sunday, not the nfl thug family....Have started to hurt them in the right place. Their back pocket. I'd love to see the league collapse and watch the minorities flip out.
