Teen Wants A Tattoo? Pediatricians Say Here's How To Do It Safely

Ariana Marciano is adding to her collection of about 75 tattoos at the Body Electric Tattoo and Piercing Studio on trendy Melrose Avenue in Hollywood. "I think they're so cool and I think they're visually really nice to look at," she says. There's a ram's head, an elk, a green-and peach colored praying mantis, a love bug and a moth. Today she's getting a ladybug.

"I love bugs," Marciano, 23, says. "I think they're kind of overlooked." In about 20 minutes, with dots on its back and a bit of rusty orange, a small ladybug takes its place on her elbow.

Marciano is part of a trend; 38 percent of millennials have at least one tattoo, according to the Pew Research Center, and 23 percent have a piercing somewhere other than an earlobe. That compares to just 6 percent of boomers with tattoos, and 1 percent with other piercings.

When they move out and they pay for it and I never have to see it. Sure.

There use to be something exotic about Tattoos. You had been a Sailor or a biker maybe a stripper or a jail bird. Now every common slob has them. I see homeless young people all the time covered with then and wonder if they wish they had that money now or if they could pawn them.

Nothing uglier than a woman with a tattoo that's grown fat. The image becomes totally out of proportion.

2:29 has a tribal armband. I bet it doesn't connect on the inside of their bicep because it hurt too bad.

I find Tattoos for lack of a better word...disturbing. I personally would not deform my body intentionally, and waste that kind of $$ to do it..
Some people don't like clowns. I do not like seeing tattoos on people.
Tattoos and the lifestyle tattoos brought with them, broke up a relationship I had. Everything was great, until her daughter was around. She got her mother to get a tattoo like ones she had. Then back to going to bars, darts, pool rooms when I was not around.
I left. That's their lifestyle. Not mine. And spending that kind of $$ when they had little. I don't get it.

Buy your daughter some nice Jewelry. It's a better investment. Tattoos are worthless as soon as you walk out of the shop.

When I decide that wearing the same T-shirt every day for the rest of my life is a good idea, I'll get a tattoo for bathing purposes.

So far, for 63 years, that hasn't happened yet!

Teens - no.

For my kids, once an adult - if my advice wasn't heard while growing up, well tis your body not mine! You've got to live with it and I will NOT say a word about it! Little arguments break families up and I will not let that happen!
