Ditto! Heck, I even remember picking up the receiver and getting an operator to connect the call.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEN!!!!!!!

The Good ol' days. I remember calling a neighbor only required the last 5 digits of the number - AFTER "Sara the operator" put you through. (lil' Andy Griffth Show/Mayberry RFD humor)

Happy Munday! ONLY 4 days until T.G.I.F!

Just sit down and take it easy.

Yeah I used a rotary phone but I had to check to make sure the party line was clear first. That's about the time I just got my 8 transister AM only radio that I held to my ear because the reception was so bad. And my black and white TV had two channels. Of course now I get 200 channels but I only watch two.

I'm so old I don't know what a walkman is.

Wasn't THAT long ago. Was it? All those things were everywhere 35 years ago.

So what is the difference? I'd like to see if YOU know. The prevailing wisdom is that it's mis-used by so many people that there is no difference.

My Mom WAS an operator. No dial tones, just the operator's voice asking "number please." I would call when my mom was at work and when the operator answered, I would ask to speak to my "Mommy." They all knew who to connect me to. The numbers in our little town we just three digit numbers. I remember ours, and the neighbor's across the street.

I'm so old, and my family was so poor, that I was born at home and delivered by the family doctor. And I'm only in my mid-sixties.
