A Virginia man caught flying from Shanghai to Chicago with $16,500 in his carry-on luggage could face execution for allegedly sending top-secret documents to China, a court heard.
Kevin Mallory, 60, of Leesburg was found with the money after an April visit to China; a subsequent investigation revealed his scheme, prosecutors told a US District Court in Alexandria, Virginia, Thursday.
Investigators allegedly found a phone message to the suspected Chinese agent in which he said 'your object is to gain information, and my object is to be paid.'
