By order of Jacob R. Day, Mayor of Salisbury, in honor and celebration of the life of Brooke Mulford, and as a gesture of gratitude for the love and joy that she brought to everyone whose heart she touched, all City flags will be flown at half-mast until further notice.
It is further ordered that on this night, Monday, June 12th, 2017, there be a silent vigil at the fountain in the Salisbury City Park, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There will be no speakers and no agenda for this gathering. Citizens are encouraged to attend and reflect or pray as they see fit, silently, in honor and support of Brooke, her family, and all of those who suffer the heartbreak of pediatric cancer. The fountain in the park will remain illuminated in gold until further notice.

So sweet.
I was talking to wife about this little Hero. Its funny, we all know that Heaven is where we will end up. We know it is like nothing we will ever experience. Some of us worry about our past and what happens when we die. This little angel is smiling and has to be one of God's favorites. To go through what she has been through and smile and be such a huge inspiration. I am glad she is know looking over her family from Heaven, and in peace.
We all see people do unbelievable things on this earth and call them hero's - Brooke you are my hero.
God bless you, and prayers to your family.
I will honor this little one from my home because I won't become a pawn in Mr. Day's photo opportunity to act like he's concerned about Salisbury citizens. This is a opportunist trying to once again get his mug in front of a camera and has nothing to do with this sweet little lamb who is now in Heaven. Shame on you, Jake Day for publicize and politicizing this child's loss. I don't know how you look yourself in the mirror at night. I just really don't.
So heartbreaking. What an amazing example of living on purpose. Despite all the pain she pushed through bravely, valiantly, gracefully , stoically smiling defiantly saying yes to life. She will live on in many hearts-mine for sure. She is a light and a teacher. Her journey challenges us to ask what really matters, how can I help others. I believe one of the best ways to honor this beautiful spirit is to stand tall, shoulders back and walk or at least seek purpose. There is no time for self pity there is work to do! Thank you dear spirit for sharing your brave selfless journey Bless you comfort and greater understanding to family and all who loved her
This is wrong on so many levels.
It would be one thing if Day had called for everyone in the community to make donations to children's cancer funds or maybe St. Joseph's because THAT would have been a gesture for Brooke. No, he has to go make a big production out of everything and have a 'gathering.' This isn't about honoring a kid whose passed away it's about Jake is up for re-election in a year and half and sees his agenda falling apart so quick! let me do something so it makes me look like I care about the kids. It's so transparent it's revolting.
248 here again, I think I'll just light a little candle for Brooke and donate some money to Make A Wish or St. Joseph's on her behalf. Much better than falling for Jake Day's fakery.

Exactly! This guy is pure NUTS!!
It's all about Jake Day!
If Jake and his clowns wanted to honor her memory why didn't he simply make June 12th a day every year when the Maryland flag flies at half staff for ALL kids who are lost to cancer? Why single out one when so many die every year from the horrible disease that ravages the body until it's gone? Just pathetic, Jake. You are your bunch are so disingenuous.
A child died. Whether or not you agree with the mayor's decision, think of the family. They may appreciate it, and that's what matters. Not your negative opinions. Brooke, I am sure you are enjoying heaven. No more pain, your hair is back, hearing aids gone, and the list goes on! Until we see you again, sweet girl!! xoxo
Brooke did a lot for our town. Ever heard of someone giving back? A lot of negative Nellie's on here. Glad I'm not that miserable.
Was this something her mother wanted or asked for or like it was stated is this Jake day and his circus act trying to act like he cares. You don't turn something like this child went through into some sort if production. Its tasteless and if done by Jake day without confiding with her mother just disrespectful. What about her douche bag dad?? Why isn't anyone ripping that assh*** for what he did?
Please don't make this political! Who cares for what reason Mr. Day has arranged this gathering? It's a beautiful thing to do for a family that has done so much for cancer research and education, for her dad who is rooted in Salisbury's restaurant arena, and a mom with a broken heart. I don't care why he did it, nor do I care why he lit the fountain gold for Brooke's wings, nor do I care why he ordered the flags to fly at half mast. I care about the devastating loss of a precious little girl whose journey to heaven was followed by so many people. It's a lovely tribute not only to Brooke, but to all children who have succumbed to the horrid disease of cancer. Just have a heart, people!
What is wrong?
AMEN, 8:01! Beautifully said!
I thought everyone should see that it was in fact a citizen that asked for this event to take place.

Friends, family, community....I asked our Mayor, Jacob Day, if the city could light up the water fountain in the City Park gold for Brooke Mulford (for pediatric cancer) and her family as she approaches the end of her heroic battle with cancer.....and I just got word from him that the LIGHTS ARE IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mind you, I asked him at 9:30 yesterday morning!!!!!!!! That is what happens when people CARE
<3 Please, take a ride one night this weekend down to the park and stop to throw in a penny and say a prayer for peace for our hometown hero--Miss Brooke Mulford <3 She inspired thousands of people and offered hope to so many, and never stopped smiling <3 This is the least we can do as a commUNITY to show our gratitude and love.
WE LOVE YOU MULFORD FAMILY!!!!!! #brookestrong #ourhometownhero
Please share so that as many people as possible that were touched by this wonderful young lady can see her lights shining bright ♥
