WASHINGTON — When WTOP staffers are not reporting on the latest news, traffic and weather, chances are, you can find them at the beach — likely with a crabcake sandwich in hand.
Over the years, many employees inside the Glass-Enclosed Nerve Center have become experts at navigating the best crab shacks, burger joints and dive bars at the beach. Here are their recommendations on where to grab a great bite of food when you need a break from the surf.

The plate in the picture is Bayside Skillet but that place hasn't been any good for years and it's open funky hours.
Have not eaten in OC for over 20 years and don't plan on it anytime soon. Tourist prices and service. Most places never expect the customer to ever be a repeat diner.
Amen 637 Amen. OC businesses cater to the transient visitors they don't give a shit about locals or repeat customer potential from surrounding areas. They are shortsighted in many ways.
Easy..
Bar/pub food.. Buxies Salty Dog
Somewhere you would take your parents...Ropewalk
Sushi...oc wasabi
Pizza.. Dough Roller.. $$$$.. but still my favorite
Roast Beef... Anthony's carryout.
Breakfast... Sorionos
Cold Beer... Cork Bar
For an area that's surrounded by ocean and waterways, we do have a shortage of places to get great seafood. Salisbury isn't any better. Most of the local places steam all their crabs in the AM and then re-heat them when orders come in, so they have a weird taste. Sad but that's the way it is even though they charge enough for it not to be the case.
Crab cake factory
Too much of a hassle to eat in OC. You're better off going some place else altogether. Berlin has the Blue Dog and Cambridge has Suicide Bridge. OC is over-rated and under-satisfying.
Bull On The Beach at 94th. street in Ocean City!!!
West Ocean City is Waterman's Seafood.......
Love Bayside Skillet
Love Sunset Grille
WaWa
Bull on the Beach 94th street (open YEAR round) - blue plate special and burnt ends. Portions ALWAYS large.
Kirby's 94th street bar (open YEAR round) locals offseason retreat
want local crabs? Throw your own pot in the bay cuz most come down the coast. And via Sysco Inc.
Makes not difference as of this weekend ..... locals will be staying home until the season is over. Or should I say locals of a grownup age.
locals do stay home until the season is over...we also like when school systems want to start even earlier than Labor day. Why? MORE summertime for us on the beach!!!! Sept/Oct football season here on the island is fun fun fun!!!!!!!!!! AND zero kids (little and big)
Bull on the Beach-Best Hot Roast Beef Sandwich ever. Get some extra gravy on the side to dip the fries in.
Crab Cake Factory has the best crab cakes ever!
Always have had great food and service at Blue Fish
Ristorante Antipasti, The Hobbit, Bourbon Street on the Beach
The Lazy Lizzard
Queensgirl is giving great advice. Add to that, Tequila Mockingbird, Fagers upstairs, Big Easy on 60 (better Sazerac than the Roosevelt in NO) The Shark in West O, crab cake factory. Lots of great choices.
Support your local business owners instead of bitching about your immature palates.
Actually 1027 I have a very sophisticated palate but I don't like dealing with the summertime BS. If I want to deal with traffic and have fine dining, I'll just go up to New York City and you can't tell me any place in OC can even compare to five-star dining in NYC. Thanks for the snark bark.
1029 to 1027 was a KABOOM! Shabanga. 1029 is right, nothing beats the Big Apple delights. You simpletons don't even know what you're talking about. Smallsville.
Sahara Cafe, 19th Street, best breakfast.
Mione's Pizza & Pasta, Tanger Outlets
On the Bay Seafood, 44th Street
Alaska Stand, 9th Street, best cheesesteaks & hamburgers
Chick-fil-a, RT 50, best fast food
Rice House, Rt. 611 West OC, best Asian
Those are raspberries...
LOL!!!!!!!!!!
6:48 must be a farmer or produce stockboy at ACME.
Crab Cake Factory (on Rt54 in DE. Save 7% food sales tax and 9% alcohol tax that you would pay at their MD locations.
Save a bunch more if you just made crab cakes at home.
And who wants to deal with New York City any more than Ocean City. Both are too crowded and overpriced.
If you want superior service and excellent food (along with choices) then it's your option 1252. No other city close to us besides DC caters to such a wide range of palates and speciality food items. None.
DE - for all alcohol/tobacco product purchases. Taxes kill you in MD.
local OC HH for good eats/drinks: (Buxy's; BJs; Coins; Bull on Beach 94th street; Kirby's; Fishtales; Ropewalk; Dead Freddies, Fagers)
Got a boat? drive to Macky's or Harpoon Hannah's for HH
Mandatory - until the offseason GO HOME for DINNER!!!!!!
12:57 Are you a LGBTQXYZ? You sure are uppity in your responses. or just a food snob? Or both?
Some Corrections:
"Somewhere you would take your parents..." FISH TALES
"Pizza..." PIEZANO'S - or even GROTTO. But Dough Roller? No way. All dough.
"Roast Beef" Gotta say BOOG'S - They'll slice it thin for you and even give you the cut you want if you ask. Anthony's is a little dry.
"Breakfast" SAHARA CAFE. No contest. 2nd place is not even close.
"Cold Beer" CORK is damn good. But next door at The Clam you'll have ice on the bottles!
