No food stamps for able bodied unless they work - Trump

If you don't work you don't EAT: Trump will force able-bodied to get a job if they want food stamps - and plans to slash Medicaid and other benefits in radical budget to boost military and build the wall

Donald Trump's budget mastermind is taking aim at the workshy and telling them: 'Get a job.'

Mick Mulvaney unveiled an ambitious federal budget Tuesday that slashes programs that benefit the poor to get government spending back on track and reduce the federal deficit.

But it is likely to be his blunt message which cuts through.

'If you're on food stamps and you're able-bodied, we need you to go to work,'

Trump's plan, 'A New Foundation for American Greatness,' aims to balances the federal budget over 10 years through massive cuts to Medicaid and welfare programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Cuts will also create room for Trump's proposed spending on the border, infrastructure and a paid family leave program. Medicare and Social Security are also kept intact. Mulvaney told reporters during a Monday briefing. 'We need everyone pulling in the same direction.'

Kind of like if you are able-bodied and you are drafted, we need you to serve your country.

They should be given the option of going into the military or be cut off.

What are elderly people who are in nursing homes supposed to do when their Medicaid is cut off ?

I guess they should have planned better, saved more, etc.

They don't have to do anything but it's not being cut off.. LOOK if your going to TROLL at least make up something that isn't plainly incorrect.

Nevermind the poverty level hasn't been adjusted in decades. I'm a single Mom work 40-50 hours a week and make just enough to cut out our food stamps.

Saw as a cashier a family of four, wife husband and two toddlers, no one worked. Seen them in town alot. They lived with what had to be the wifes grandma, ABLE BODIED,just lazy. These people came in with 800.00 dollars on thier card! This was 2011, I was working so was my husband we had three kids and could barely eat or keep our water and lights on. Would buy cart loads of junk and meats more than I could ever get working, nothing made me angrier.

Medicaid should be for the elderly and terminally ill. Not for a supplemental because you are to lazy to get insurance instead of living off the government and buying your illegal drugs.

There are to many able bodies drawing Social Security and it needs to stop. Also why is it that welfare recipients are also receiving a supplemental income check above their welfare checks and it is being taken out of Social Security. Tell me that is right while others have paid into Social Security and is getting the shaft while getting a smaller check than these con-artist.

Are you talking about SS disability or SS when you turn 62?

This is just soooo overdue! BUT IT ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN. The whole welfare system is screwed up.
EXAMPLES:
Temporary cash assistance, what do you think they mean by temporary? one month? three months? six months? Would you believe "temporary cash assistance runs about a year and a half!!!
Did you know that they can get cash back when using their SNAP CARD?
If you see someone using their card several times and just buying a minimal item each time, it is so they can get some extra cash with each transaction.
I personally saw a person using their Snap Card to buy steamed crabs and then add 12 ears of steamed corn to the order at $1.00 PER EAR.
Do you know that most thermostats only go up to 85 degrees? I know because I've seen people in public housing with their thermostats maxed to 85 degrees (and not warm enough)so they had their oven doors open and running for extra heat. Why? Because gas heat and cooking is included in their rent (normally in the $250-350 per month range).
I could go on for hours about the abuses in the welfare system, but I think you get the idea !!!

44 MILLION peeps on Snap..85% are bull S..T artists.

That's not true! Where did you get that info from? I'm guessing it's an assumption! I manage a low income complex and the thermostats are controlled by US! WINTER is set at 65! Summer is set to 78! Might I also add they are locked and cannot be overridden! Yes, I'm certain there are people who abuse the system but PLEASE KNOW YOUR FACTS! The cash that they pull off is the TCA cash assistance and they DO NOT have to use transactions to do so, it's used same as a debit card and can be used at the ATM etc... in closing the TCA is not "free money" the recipients are REQUIRED by law to be in a training class or do community service at 30-40 hrs per week at a workplace that the government provides throughout the community! They are drug tested, they have a job counselor and the requirements for the program aren't as easy as you assume!
I can tell you by seeing these people daily, they aren't enjoying trying to balance 200-700 a month for their families. Even tho they have reduced rent they are still responsible for other bills/utilities/personals. Don't be so quick to pass judgement. Just because you think you will never be in their situation doesn't mean it can't happen to you as well.

:....then you also know that they are living with men with jobs, who don't pay rent in an apartment they aren't supposed to be in???
It makes it a LOT easier to "balance 200 -700 a month.
And looking at the cars parked in ghetto apartment complexes, it MUST be a good gig because I have a good job and don't even THINK about driving some of those cars --- way outta my working class budget.
'Splain THAT, pls.

Seen men and en living in section 8 that work at ECI. Thier baby daddy's and mama's don't report them living there..And also the project's are ripe with drug dealers..these people dont report income and are on assistance...this system needs to be overhauled.

The only way to make that feasible is to make every employer of any size provide insurance to their employees. Lots of people have jobs but no insurance is offered or the pay won't support purchasing an individual or family policy (the premium plus the outrageoud deductible plus restrictive coverage).

Up until 2 years ago I was making close to 6 figures each year. I was in an accident in which I broke my (L1,L2 was shattered, L3,4,5 are all crushed. Also about 3 months after the accident I started having grand mal seizures, I was 26 at the time and never had a seizure in my life ( 13 in 4 months) I went to 9 doctors before finally finding out (from a neurologist at Johns Hopkins Hospital) what was wrong. I am not able to work, drive, do normal activities. I never wanted this and never wanted help. I've worked since I was 13. I lost everything, my house, my car, my savings etc. I get $185 a month in food stamps which is hardly anything. So if you think I shouldn't get food stamps ( also I get no other help from the government yet I've paid thousands, hundred of thousands to them in taxes) hopefully none of you ever go through something like this.
