Not only a cheapskate, but a liar too.

You would have to be the worst waiter ever not to get 20% from me...but it has happened. Recently we had poor service but after speaking with the wait staff we found out that he had gone through some horrible life events and we tipped 20% anyway. Everyone can have a bad day.

If you can't tip at least 18-20 % you should not be dining out.

9:17 I tip depending on the service I receive. If I get bad service, they get a crappy tip.

Tipping is ridiculous, owners should just pay these people minimum wage and add it to the bill. Anything over 10% should be for extraordinary service only.

Tipping encourages good behavior (service) when I dine out. If I want minimum wage service, I'll eat at McDonald's.

America is out of step with the rest of the world, pay the employee a decent wage, and no tipping. Tipping is for a good job, NOT for doing your job!

I tend to give 20% but the percentage goes down with each incident f poor service. its up the the wait staff if they get the full amount of not.

Tiping is given above and beyond delivery of a the meal.....drink refills, attitude, knowledge of meals and attention received....if I get good service 30% not out of reason..

I travel all over the world, and it is only in the USA that servers are paid under normal wages, and have to rely on the customer to pay them a living wage! Greed in this country is destroying us! A tip is supposed to be for services rendered above the norm, as a special gift to the server for great service. I don't understand how paying substandard wages to a certain class of people is legal? Black servers should raise hell, and moan about "Slave wages", then it will be changed! This is the century of bending over to kiss blacks a**es!

Now that is a good response.

Everyone knows or should know, tipping is expected. If you don't or won't tip you should not go to an establishment that requires tipping. As someone mentioned, there is always McD's.

Tipping is based on QUALITY of SERVICE not for just service. The standard minimum is 10% for those who were a disaster and complaints to the manager didn't rectify the situation. If service was excellent, I've tipped as much as 100-150% of my bill depending on the bill amount. When you are in the service industry, like other industries, there's risks you assume. Probably a good idea to be on your game as long as you're working when the majority of your money comes from tips.

In Europe there is no tipping. Wait staff makes the minimum wage there. American servers should count their lucky stars.

Unknown, I've seen tip jars in McDonald's before. Depends on where you are and they're only for people who go inside the restaurant. Crazy, huh?

If you want good service go to Applebee's and ask to sit in Jeramy's section. Hands down one of the best servers out there.

The same ignorant people who believe u have to tip or shouldn't eat out are probably the same ones who stay in hotels, leave the room nasty and dont tip. Gtfoh. I work 40 hrs +, pay my bills and take care of my kids. If i want to eat a nice meal & take my kids for a nice meal, damn if im going to deny them and/or myself because im short a tip. Thats their job. The restaurant makes more then enough to cover tips. And i am a tipper, but i wont be forced to tip someone who chose that job. McDonald's employees work just as hard if not harder. People on here can be so demeaning. At least they work.

745, Canadians? Now that is something I have not heard in decades. Some things never change.

EVERY waiter in the USA knows Canadiens don't tip. They WILL run your as* off for more tea, napkins, butter, this, that.....
Everyone knows it. Except them.

I have always defended Daytons restaurant when it has been put down. But I hope the owner Gordy sees this. My husband and I go there all the time, but Saturday I was soooo disappointed in a member of your staff. It was packed as you would expect for a Saturday so we found the only 2 seats available it was in the mid area a table that can seat 4. The tall bald headed waiter came over and told us we would have to move as it was a table for a group of 4 or more! I had picked my way through to that seat with my walker which was very hard to do, and then bussed away. the people next to us said how rude they thought it was, I told them it might be our last time, this guy knows us and knows I have been using my walker for weeks, but I guess the thought of getting a bigger tip, made him so rude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
