Fastest train in the world could run between DC and Baltimore

WASHINGTON — Commuters traveling from D.C. to Baltimore might soon hop onto the newest, fastest high-tech trains that would shrink the commute down to 15 minutes.

The Superconducting Magnetic Levitation train (SCmaglev) floats about four inches over the ground and can reach cruising speeds of 311 miles per hour within minutes by using magnetic forces to power the trains.

Developed by Japanese Rail Central and fully operating in Japan, it’s the fastest train in the world and has been clocked at over 350 mph. The D.C./Baltimore area is getting closer to having this newest technology become reality.

We keep hearing about these great trains that we estimate will cost 10 billion and then cost 500 billion and are not done yet. look at California and florida. we need to repair Amtrak and see if we can get it to stand on its own. then if a private entity wants to invest in this take a look at it.

Another waste of money. Mass Transit system is not self sufficient. If Mass Transit cannot be profitable then how will this High tech train support itself. Big joke.

I'm concerned with our good lady Pelosi. Remember when she was disappointingly cut off from her daily flights to and from the job (not work). Flew the friendly skies back and forth to D.C. returning home in CA. Each flight costing more than my home that I still make payments on. Did she hop a broom or catch a ride with some other loser? She is looking rather unhealthy, perhaps staying with a companion through the night.

Why would anyone want to see the museums and historical sites in either city or eat at restaurants serving food actually cooked by chefs rather than being pre made by sysco?

I don't want to see the sights bad enough to get mugged or killed at the same time.

What works in Japan doesn't necessary mean it will work in the USA....although pretty much most electronic items come from Japan and the rest from China....... Hmmmmmmmmmm...

Disney got it right YEARS ago - monorail. MANY years later - his monorail concept still moves people without many hitches. Believe Walt himself pitched the idea to Big Cities only to be laughed at.

What is his company charging now?? $105..$125 to get in his magic kingdom...

I hope they put the terminal right next to Obama's new house.

This project has loser written all over it.

Sorry, 1:57, but the Disney monorail only works because everyone on that route gets on at the same place and time and everyone gets off at the same place and time.

It would be great if they put a train like this in from Chestertown to OC. Let the tourists park for free up there and take high speed train right to OC no stops,

Since the train would go both ways think of the people that could work across the bridge without the long commute. Sounds like a good idea to me!
