The deal joins one of the most famous women in the world with the most prestigious newsmagazine on television.
Winfrey will be a "special contributor," CBS said. This means she'll have several stories on the upcoming season of the newsmagazine. The first story will air sometime in the fall.
CBS declined to comment on the length of Winfrey's contributor deal.
Jeff Fager, the executive producer of the program, said it was "invigorating" discussing the partnership.
"She's a wonderful person full of energy and ideas," he told CNN.

I have previously enjoyed many of the stories on 60 minutes - but I think this is a bad decision...
Interested to see what her first assignment is - then to see what kind of racist spin she puts on it!

I think Opie, I mean Oprah, has a good heart,IF you agree with her.
Again, if you don't want to watch, just change the channel. Oprah is a good choice for 60 minutes and she is certainly not a racist.
It must be getting awful quiet and the shelves bare in the double wides as all y'all boycotting everything.
Was my favorite show for years, very informative. But, I also found them leaning to the left, etc. and stopped watching it some years ago.
Looks like they just fell to the left, another good show gone bad!
Stopped watching CBS, MSNBC, NBC a long time ago.
4:50, me too, but I also included CNN in that bunch. Would rather watch the animal channel than any of those.
