BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A crash involving dozens of vehicles and a tractor-trailer shut down Interstate 95 in South Baltimore Saturday morning.

At least two people were killed and 15 were injured in the icy pileup, three of those seriously.

Emergency crews at the scene said at least 55 vehicles and one tanker were involved in the crash near the exit for Washington Boulevard on I-95 south just before 5 a.m.

you can click on a map of the area where the wreck happened. The tanker was traveling NB and went off the overpass between Caton Ave. and Washington Blvd. (US rt 1). You can see the RR tracks he landed on. (use the satellite map) Prior to this he was traveling on 95 which was on land. Upon getting on the overpass is where he encountered the ice. (bridges freeze first) I suspect there was no ice on the roadway prior to overpasses and when he hit the ice on the overpass, there was nothing he could do. That is my opinion.
