Ocean City woman charged with running theft scheme

Felony and misdemeanor charges have been filed against an Ocean City woman who is alleged to have defrauded her employer over the course of several months.

Following an investigation by Ocean City Police Department detectives,

Chelsea P. Purnell, 47, was charged on Nov. 4 with running a theft scheme under $10,000, according to Maryland Judiciary Case Search.

She also faces 31 counts of theft of under $1,000 and four counts of theft.

Police were called to the Wine Rack on 85th Street on Oct. 27 about a suspected internal theft, OCPD Public Affairs Specialist Lindsay Richard said.

Not very bright. There was an electronic trail, complete with date stamp and inventory balance, all along the way.

Yeah but it is ok for her to do that because the owners are rich and she wasn't be paid enough.

Not to be personal, but this was a dumb way to steal. She might have gotten away with it 20 years ago, but not today.

Theft is theft. It matters not how well off the owner is or is not. I can only hope you are being sarcastic.
