Why Dr. Carson's HUD will take a wrecking ball to Obama's housing rule

Of everything that President Obama has done that President-elect Trump stands to undo, perhaps no policy better symbolizes the differences between the two than a housing rule meant to reshape towns and counties across America.

Although the rule hasn't earned the same level of attention that the stimulus, Obamacare, or Dodd-Frank did, it is ambitious. It requires local governments to spell out plans for reducing segregation or else risk losing federal funds, and is the Obama administration's attempt to increase diversity and desegregate housing markets all over the country through federal action. Trump and the incoming GOP Congress don't share that vision.

Instead, all indications suggest that Trump's team is ready entirely to scrap the housing rule, clunkily known as Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing.

The rule was finalized in July 2015. But it is meant to implement a part of the housing title of the landmark 1968 Civil Rights Act fully. Coming nearly a half century after the legislation authorizing it, the rule also represents Obama's larger hope for the country over the next decade: That it becomes more progressive and less unequal at the same time that it becomes demographically more diverse.

Start telling people that public housing is NOT a lifetime benefit. It is NOT something to be passed on to your family and it's NOT a guarantee of comfort.
The safety net (which IS a necessity) is NOT designed to last for 50 years.
Three generations of families on welfare, free medical care, free child care, free electricity, free food, and an assortment of other freebies, is enough of a head start on life. A WHOLE LOT MORE than the rest of us dummies WORKING for your freebies ever got. 40 YEARS on welfare and you STILL need help??? Seriously????????
You don't need welfare, you need a bullet.
Fire away, Trump!

Free housing equals, you live where the ghetto is built.
I live on the E Side and they have infested the neighborhood and brought it down to a level that may not be recoverable.

Just look at E Church St. Once a fine neighborhood with beautiful victorians, now a slum and the drug dealing corridor.

But Nancy Pelosi and the Left Wingnuts say that Dr. Carson is not qualified to be the Secretary of HUD.

Funny they never mention that their Messiah Obama isn't and never was qualified to be the POTUS! Never had a job, can't prove his education or BC. His little bit of experience as a "Community Organizer" doesn't qualify him to run a lemonade stand. Can't prove that he is a real citizen or eligible to be POTUS.

The only qualifications is that he is a POS!
