WASHINGTON — The professions expected to show one of the biggest job growth rates in 2017 and the largest growth in sheer number of jobs will be trade skills, according to a year-end report from CareerBuilder and labor market data provider Emsi.
The U.S. economy is expected to add just over 1 million new jobs in fields such as electrician, plumber and HVAC technician in 2017. That’s a job growth rate of 8 percent. The average hourly earnings for professionals in those fields will be $21.38, or about $45,000 a year in 2017, the report says.
While skills trades generally don’t require a college degree, they do require significant training, through apprenticeship programs and both in-class and on-the-job experience.

Who can live on $45k per year? Liberal arts degree here and make $125K, full benefits, 5 weeks paid vacation, STIP and LTIP. Bonus, I work from home - some travel required.
It's the people who know the difference between the needs and wants.
Doing?

Just about anyone. If what you say is true, good for you but I really doubt it and you're overpaid.
Why anyone would feel the NEED to go on a blog and boast about an unverifiable income is beyond me. I wouldn't be surprised if you "only" made 45k per, if that.
I'm not upset with the fact that you didn't get an advanced education, so why are you upset with me? Up awful early, 4:05. Getting ready to go to a job you don't like and make money for someone else?

I'm not upset. Just calling it like I see it. Not that it's any of your business, but I am up all hours of the day and night. I am retired so I have that luxury. Now if you could talk like a regular person instead of one compelled to impress you might come across as a better person. But I could be wrong, I've been wrong before.
Says the guy who comments @12am and then has a response @7:23am. Making 125k as you say you would think you would be sleeping better but it's obvious you have a lot of worry going on in your life.
I speak and write in the same manner as my peers. I am sorry that it is not to your liking. Having grown up in this area, I can can definitely let you know i seen plenty of folks that can chew the fat with a bean farmer and some of them city type big wigs with their fancy cars and stuff. My point is that too many people come one here and claim that a degree is worthless and that is not true. It depends on the person. There are plenty of college grads that could make a decent wage if they had a doctorate degree because they don't have what it takes to be successful.
Typo alert "on" not "one" and "grads that COULD NOT make". Never claimed that I was a good typist.

All that and a bag of chips. Whatever dude. Money can't buy class. You have got someone fooled. Ride that train as long as you can.
Incorrect from an "educated person" : "let you know i seen plenty of folks"
Correct from an "uneducated person" : let you know I have seen plenty of folks, or,
let you know I've seen plenty of folks
I've worked with a couple of "educated" folks who had the common sense and sound judgment of a rock.
The majority of universities and colleges are in it for the money, not for the higher learning.
You obviously missed the sarcasm in the attempt to sound like the typical born here. SMH
