Senator Coats Proposes 'Realignment Committees' to Balance the Budget

The warning signs are right before our eyes. Out-of-control federal spending is threatening to bankrupt the health and retirement security programs depended on by seniors in Indiana and millions of Americans across the country.

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office projects that Medicare Part A will be bankrupt in 2026 and the Social Security Trust Funds will be exhausted by 2030 if Congress takes no action. As a result, Social Security beneficiaries will face an automatic cut of 29 percent in benefits.

Given this reality, inaction is not a viable solution. If policymakers fail to make necessary reforms today, more drastic and painful changes will be forced upon us down the road.

The good news is there is still time to do the right thing. I believe smart reforms to federal spending can be made that preserve benefits for current enrollees and those approaching retirement age.

I recently introduced a new proposal to address our fiscal challenges and make structural changes to the way your taxpayer dollars are spent. My bill, the Mandatory Bureaucratic Realignment and Consolidation Commission Act, is based on a model that the Defense Department has used successfully for years.

(Dan Coats R-IN)

Why is all this happening Now? Why have they waited so long to do Their Jobs? The answer is clear. The intelligent American voters have finally had enough and the congress knows it. Trump came forth and has challenged ALL their nonsense, their laziness, the do nothing and get paid attitudes. Trump/Pence2016

Could we move on to Zika funding? Guess some representative has to be directly impacted by this disease before we see any action. As soon as someones grandchild is born with the horrible disease we will see action.

9:56 is starting to get the picture, but does he really think there is ANYTHING we can do to stop nature?
If we just threw some money at those mosquito's (pick whatever form of money you desire, i.e., committee's, boards, commission's, spraying campaigns, education (the money pit of liberals), whatever), they would be completely eradicated and babies would go back to worrying about autism.
The Zika virus is here to stay. And WILL spread.
They don't give a crap about your "funding". If they could laugh (and after this, they may evolve that capability) they would be doing just that. Probably already doing it, having big mosquito parties in the tire behind your shed, making babies and laughing. Bon voyage, we are headed to South Carolina!!!
It would be easier to rid the USA of roaches.
