He always tried to find the highest rank and got under their desk as fast as he could. That is how he got his promotions. He was one of the dumbest ones I knew.

I am a retired correctional officer and most of them are very good at what they do. If you think it is so simple why don't you try going on a tier and let the sliding door lock behind you. Then they open the cells and let 96 inmates out to go in the dayroom and you are the only officer locked in there with them. Some are murderers that will never get out of prison. What do they care if they kill you there is no more death penalty in Maryland. And all you have to protect yourself is a radio, a pair of handcuffs, and a small can of pepper spray. I doubt most of you don't have the balls to do that. Also there is a stabbing almost every week. Most of the time inmate on inmate. But what do they have to lose if they do stab you they are never getting out anyway. Even the State Police hate to go in there because they have to leave their gun outside before going in. Try walking a mile in my shoes before you are so quick to criticize.
I started at E.C.I. In 1998. Was never a fan of Maycock or his brother for that matter. Being from Jersey his attitude was definitely that of an arrogant New Yorker who thought he knew everything but didn't know shit. I am definitely not sad to see that he was escorted off the property. And for the man hiding behind the keyboard saying you don't have to be smart to be a CO please feel free to apply and come walk a tier. Or be assigned to the weight pit in the courtyard during Rec.

Maycock is an idiot. The only opinion that matters to him is from anyone kissing his ass or who's ass he is kissing. That's how he got to the position he was in. He was responsible for the large staffing cuts some years ago. That was the start of the issues at ECI. Tried to save money by comprising safety with working short staffed.
By all means. Suit up and spend 8 hours with a hundred of them and just you and shut the slider. See how long you make it.
You are an ignorant person. CO's go through academy training and are MPCTC certified. The job they do is tireless, and thankless and the least you should do is respect that! People like you are the reason this country is the way it is now. :(
Maycock, is FAR from a good guy. He is a coward, and has kissed ass to get as high in rank as he has. He treated many people poorly, and was petrified of inmates. Karma did serve her justice with him.

9:57....there were and are some wonderful officers working there, I was just being honest about Maycock and how he was/is......but the last thing I would do is put everybody there in his same category, far from it....these are people you had to pray if anything happens they would have your back as you would there's..It is a good job for benefits and pay....it's a different world for sure and you learn pretty quick who to trust and not. It's not a job for everybody, but in todays job market you can do a lot to support your family you wouldn't normally do, and provide a good living and 20 year retirement with a high school diploma as a minimum. Most of the "Good Old Boys" are gone and a lot of the crazy episodes they did are gone with them. So if you're looking for a job of a different sort with good benefits and pay, go for it!

I was told before I went to work there.." remember there are people there who will stab you in the back..and also watch out for the inmates..i was only out of the academy a week when someone tried to jam me up. But if you do your job and sit back and watch the worm will turn.

I haven't commented on this blog but I have read all the comments posted. Yours grabbed me. If you are one of the brave boys in blue, the ignorant posts should not give you the excuse for insinuated threats. You know that's wrong and are lowering yourself to their level. You should know that threats of any kind will prove intent of some kind of assualt, if you two should meet. I doubt it would be a civil discussion. Your better than them. Act like it.

There is much more to the story trust me. As for his sick perverted nephew I doubt this has any bearing on this. The nephew is where he belongs behind bars thanks to the great work of the feds and The CAC. He was a predator in the purest form.
