OCPD Tahoe Strikes Pedestrian, Pedestrian Dies

Ocean City Fire/EMS units were dispatched to the area of 94th St. and Coastal Hwy. for a female that was struck by an OCPD Tahoe. The patient was transported to AGH where she was pronounced deceased. This happened around 1:30 this morning. No other info available at this time.

UPDATE: Some are claiming through comments that is was a male struck by this vehicle. We have not been able to confirm that information as there has been no press release sent to us with such an update.

Prayers to the families.

It shouldn't be that difficult to drive a Tahoe around in O.C. at 1:30 in the morning and not hit anyone.

I am sure that the OCPD will say it was the person who hit the truck, not the truck hit the person.

Yes 7:21 there are never drunk people who walk around In Ocean City. I don't know the circumstances but it is dark at 1:30.

7:21 unless you were under the influence. Hey, I respect LE but they make stupid decisions, too.

She might have stepped out in front of it. She might have been drunk at 1:30 am. Lot of people crossing wrong in oc.

Could be officers fault. We will have to wait to find out. Prayers that she will be okay.

Another drunk not in a cross walk, I bet.

@ 7:58 Can you read? Beside saying 'Pedestrian Dies' in the title; "The patient was transported to AGH where she was pronounced deceased"

Did anyone hear that an OC cop ran into the back of a stopped school bus on Route 50 a few weeks ago? Luckily there were no serious injuries but the police vehicle appeared to be totalled. This incident seems to have been hushed up.

And maybe the officer was texting at the time. Both could be a fault. We'll have to wait and see what the official statement says.

I feel bad for both the young woman and her family.

Sadly, I think she's a little beyond any shot of being "OK".

I guarantee the official statement will find the officer not at fault. They never, ever admit mistakes. Never.

10:10 you are so wrong.

@10:10 -

Law enforcement doesn't always cover up their mistakes. I can't speak for OCPD personally, but a WSCO deputy made an unsafe turn and the collision totaled my car. Sheriff Lewis came to check on his deputy and personally apologized to me while I was in the ER. Their investigation of the accident found the deputy at fault. It was all handled professionally.

On the other hand, a family member of an SPD Officer made an illegal pass at a high rate of speed through an intersection, and hit me while I was turning into my driveway. That person was determined to be not at fault in the SPD investigation. My insurance adjuster and I laughed at that one.

Why isn't this story on any of the local news stations? It would seem to me to be pretty big news.

1149 your lying. You added to many details not needed in a truthful story.
