May all these babies find extra loving furever homes. They deserve more TLC because of the atrocities they've already faced in their young lives.
What needs to happen now is the State of Maryland needs to get on board and pass strict legislation governing breeding operations. Virginia with the strictest regulations is a good example to follow. Pennsylvania comes in a close second with regulations they implemented when they became known for a vast number of puppy mills.
I wonder when they will be available for adoption?
I have two Corgi's and a large fenced in backyard for them to play.
Would be willing to adopt one. Would give them a nice home.
Hope the owners are prosecuted to the full extend of the law. They should serve time and be fined a very large amount to help pay for cost it has cost the taxpayers. These people have no heart or soul.
This breaks my heart! Hopefully they are able to find caring homes for them all.
Our neighbor's pit bulls, who we have seen outside their kennels just 3 times in a year, have suddenly been moved elsewhere. The timing is very suspicious, as it coincided with this puppy mill bust.
The cost of caring for these dogs before adoption (food, shelter, veterinary care, transportation, grooming, etc.) could run into the high hundreds per dog. The cost ofinvestigation and prosecution of the owners will be a minimum of $10,000, much more if they're incarcerated. Nearly all of this cost will be borne by county taxpayers. None of it will be recouped. (Expect an emergency budget amendment in county council to assist the WCHS.) Adoption fees will go to the rescue and adoption agencies, those fees already spent three or five times over.
The abused dogs are currently the losers, but that will thankfully change when they find loving homes. But we're the losers, too, and that won't change.
10:43, I was out there today chipping in on the Vet bills and had to wait in line, People ahead of me were filling out their applications to adopt, and were told that after screening the applications, they would get a call.
There were still many donations coming in as well!
