An Indiana Pastor Made His Congregation Unwitting Drug Mules in a Synthetic Pot Ring

Robert Jaynes Jr. must have been a little too inspired by Breaking Bad's Walter White. The Indiana pastor recently pleaded guilty to producing nearly 100 tons of synthetic marijuana and selling the stuff for $2.6 million. Some members of Jaynes's congregation helped to manufacture and transport the synthetic pot, known as spice or K2.

Jaynes told police that most members of his congregation believed he was running a "potpourri" business run out of warehouses near Irvington Bible Baptist Church, a parish he started 15 years prior to his arrest in October 2013. The "potpourri," however, was actually spice that Jaynes had either bought or produced himself with materials purchased from China.

In case this story wasn't weird enough, two married cops were also implicated in the drug ring for assisting Jaynes with security, and Jaynes would instruct other, unwitting members of his congregation to write personal checks to Reliable Distributing, a broker of raw synthetic drug powders.

To call this crap synthetic marijuana is an insult to marijuana. They are nothing alike in either content or effects.
