Why This Small Victory Could Make a YOOJ Difference For Ted Cruz

In an underreported story, North Dakota got together to apportion delegates this weekend, and Ted Cruz was the big winner. The Texas Senator received 18 of the states 25 pledged delegates. Why is this such a big win for Cruz?

This weekend, former Carson campaign manager and current Trump campaign adviser Barry Bennett bragged that Trump had a lock on North Dakota's delegates. As the Right Scoop noted:

Trump senior adviser Barry Bennett told NBC News that Cramer’s endorsement is “a huge win” for the campaign, and said he had “helped us immensely” to court delegates in North Dakota.

Cramer’s help, Bennett said, contributed to a slate of national delegates proposed by North Dakota GOP officials Saturday that the Trump campaign “loves.”

“We have seen the slate and we love it,” Bennett said. “If we play our cards right we could do very well” when the full convention votes on the slate of 25 proposed delegates on Sunday, he said.

Bennett wasn't just wrong, he was spectacularly wrong. Trump was massacred. This suggests two things: one, that Trump's reputation for hiring the best people is overstated: he is being beaten on the ground in nearly every situation where delegates are up for grabs. And two, that Ted Cruz, who many thought incapable of winning, is both well organized and incredibly resourceful.

For the record, here's how the votes broke down:
