Upcoming 104th Fighter Squadron Exercise

The A-10s of the 104th Fighter Squadron, Baltimore, Maryland Air National Guard will be conducting some low level training Friday mid morning and afternoon as well as mid-day Saturday, vicinity of the following communities: Vienna, Mardela Springs, Nanticoke, Mt Vernon, Deale Island, Dames Quarter, Chance, Oriole, Venton, Upper Hill, Upper Fairmont, Fairmont, Rumbly, and Marion Station. Airspace has been coordinated with the FAA, and we will mitigate the impact to residents on the ground by avoiding populated areas and adhering to all FAA and US Air Force regulations.

We are very grateful to have the opportunity to use this airspace and would like to continue doing so. Again, we will make every effect to mitigate the impact on our fellow MD residents.

Nothing like being buzzed by one at about 100 feet above your boat on Tangier Sound while you are out fishing. Beatiful

I used to have to drive to Elliott's Island several times a month in the course of my job. While out on the open plain of marshes between Vienna and EI I watched as the A-10s maneuvered in the sky numerous times. On several occasions they would line up on me in my truck and, I assume, use me as a simulated target. It was a wonderful sight to watch a flight leader and his wing man headed straight at me then overfly me and bank to one side or another. I'd turn on my yellow strobe lights and tell them I'd noticed. Nearly every time I'd get a wing wave and with my arm out the window I'd wave back.

The hog is the sweetest sound rumbling towards you while your pinned down. Superior air support that is effective danger close. These areas are used because of nuclear facilities and utility plants. They are also aeas that most have the highest probability of civilians whom will fight in a civil war. Happening now in similar areas across the country. And finally also places with little populations in case of catastrophic failure.
