Cruz Asks Opponents to 'Prayerfully Consider' Exiting the Race

After winning two states Tuesday night, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz called on his Republican rivals to "prayerfully consider" exiting the 2016 presidential race in order to help him defeat Donald Trump.

Cruz touted the fact that his campaign was the only one yet to defeat Trump, including projected victories in Texas and Oklahoma on Tuesday.

"Tomorrow morning we have a choice," he told supporters in his home state, which he won. "So long as the field remains divided, Donald Trump's path to the nomination remains more likely and that would be a disaster for Republicans, for conservatives and for the nation."

"Republicans, together we have a choice. We are blessed with a deep and talented, honorable field," he added. "For the candidates who've not yet won a state, who've not racked up significant delegates, I ask you to prayerfully consider our coming together, uniting. For those who have supported other candidates, we welcome you on our team standing united as one. That is the only way to beat Donald Trump. Head to head, our campaign beats Donald Trump resoundingly, but for that to happen we must come together."

He still thinks he is running for chief minister not President. We don't want this country to be a theocracy like Iran.

11:02. I couldn't agree more! Glad that there are others out there who feel the same way.

If he wins: God's plan. If he looses: also God's plan. What could asking people to pray actually accomplish?

What he's doing is pandering to the evangelicals to vote for him, and I mark that down as being deceptive, and dishonest.

Say what you want about Trump, at least he doesn't mince words..

Trump got this movement started because he is listening to the majority of American people. Let's give the man a chance to turn things around. No matter who it is he will still need the support of the Congress and I think he will earn that support.

What is it? This guy isn't up to a 'fair fight'?

I think the one good thing about Trump is that even if he or any other person is elected and even though they will be the most powerful person in the world, that person is no more powerful than the other branches of our government. We were set up with checks and balances for a reason. If he were to veer off too far any any direction in the next 2 years, the next congress will veer in the opposite direction. There is only so much that he can do without Congress. Many have complained about Obama and what he did during his presidency but, how much could he actually do without the Congress's help?

I like cruz but he's got to get off the religion kick or he can never win enough support to beat Trump or the Hildabeast.

First off Cruz thinks that if everyone but Trump and him drop out it is going to give him all their votes, then he must live in a fantasy land. Second if the Republican Party does not get their s--t in order and support the leader in votes you are going to have another democrat in office. I am a registered Democrat (only because you got to be one or the other)but I am not for another four years of Obama with one of their offspring Democrats. As a woman I could not vote for Hillary for dogcatcher (love dogs to much). I keep hearing what she has done for women, but could someone tell me exactly what that is. I can not vote for a Republican in the primary but I certainly can in the General race and it sure will not be for a liar like Cruz!!! He is as transparent as saran wrap with all his lies!!!!

1:31 "...I am a registered Democrat (only because you got to be one or the other)..."

No you don't. I have been an unaffiliated voter for over 35 years.

1:31 - And in how many primaries have you voted????

He wants others to quit, why doesn't he quit? We do not need another liar in the White House.

Ted, I'm praying that they don't drop out and this is probably my first religious experience.
