Joe, I just did this this morning. Actually spoke to the editor and told him this and much more. I would like you to post. I’ve already posted on Facebook. I pray Many will do the same. Enough is enough.
Just cancelled our subscription to the Daily Times Newspaper after 42 years. The paper has become more and more 'left leaning', many times the 'facts' are not there or not true, their spelling and grammar have much to be desired. Finally, yesterday's front page featured the Zika virus. No mention of Easter. Clueless, nothing but clueless. Choices and actions have consequences. Bye, bye Daily Times... BTW I chose to speak with the Editor.

The shocking thing I learned here, is that there are still subscribers to the Daily Times.

Yeah, some have always subscribed to get the TV guide.
I knew one old lady who liked having it near her chair so she could glance over at it to see what day of the week it is.. :-)
I agree with this story, but unfortunately, I still need the paper for my parrot. We use it for the bottom of his cage. I'll probably cancel when he becomes house-broken.
They kept throwing that free newspaper in my yard so last week I called and told them that if they continued to litter on my property that I was going to call the police and have them cited for littering. So far no newspaper.
They suck. $1000 for a public notice that ran a total of six days. Wicomico County would not allow it to be posted to any other credible media outlet. This is 2016, and sorry, but NOBODY reads the paper.

Are you serious??
I only get it for the Giant gas coupons but as Giant only does it once in a while now I'm done with the Times.
I memba as a boy the yellow times paper boxes were in everyones yard.
Libs ruin everything they get involved with.
Bet that you got to the editor - or so you think - made it all worthwhile. Just can't see why anyone would participate in the farce. It's not even good for parrot cages as it is too thin. And you definitely couldn't successfully swat a fly.
You should just pick up 7 or 8 copies of the Independent while doing the weekly grocery shopping. Parrots prefer them, and they're FREE!
Couple of things:
1. Newspapers are obsolete. Yesterdays news when you get it, killing trees and ruining the environment with every edition.
2. Leftist liberal bent to each and every story....no thanks!
3. Profit margins are non existent, so newspapers hire less than talented (I'm being nice) people to produce their pabulum.
Horrible waste of paper filled with garbage.
To all who have commented. Some of your comments are a bit on the ignorant side, but that's ok, because I see this almost everyday somewhere online...We chose to keep the paper for the ads and the obits. Really no other reason. We're not as stupid as some of you think. We were raised with newspapers and it's hard to break a habit. Some of you read nothing; not a book, a news magazine, a long essay, a long article and more. I don't know how you tie your shoes. But that's for another day.
Yes, I did speak with the editor personally and explained why we chose to cancel. I asked him how he and his staff came to this conclusion to splash the entire front page with the Zika Virus story with no mention of Easter...He said it was his decision and he realizes it was a wrong decision. I then said choices and actions have consequences. He also said he had received many more complaints. I don't know if those people cancelled their subscription.
Do not fall for that lie from the editor.... just 3 years ago on Easter AM I called in to Cancel (we were 12 year subscribers) for the same exact reason....no mention of Easter...I was given the same SAD excuse and LIE....never missed it
The paper will soon be extinct. In fact, it behoove them to quit printing as they have wasted so many trees. Perhaps it's just a loss liter for Gannett in order for them to show some loss to offset their profitable papers. Dinosaurs.
To 3/28 10:02, The editor is new. Don't think he's been there very long...
