Weekend at Bernie's

Bernie Sanders swept this weekend's Democratic primaries, sending a reminder to Democratic front runner and future inmate Hillary Clinton. As Townhall notes:

Sen. Bernie Sanders had a great night. He won resounding victories in the Washington State and Alaska caucuses, garnering 70+ percent of the vote. Now, the self-described Democratic socialist can add Hawaii to his list of victories, finishing his sweep of yesterday's primary contests. In Hawaii, Sanders crushed Clinton 70/29.

Sanders rise is indicative of a Democratic party that, post Obama and Occupy, has jerked hard to the left. While a portion of the base still realizes that Hillary is the candidate that gives them the best chance to win, a growing segment, fed up with student loans and a stagnant economy, demands the political purity and socialist through and through policies of Sanders. In the long term, this is an opportunity for Republicans to capture more mainstream voters and build a governing majority. In the short term, it means Clinton will likely have to spend more money before heading into the general, and her ironclad grip on the party's superdelegates may now be in question.

I am not a Bernie Sanders fan, but I had a chance to get in and see Safeco Stadium for free. I wanted in line with over 15,000 people and it was amazing to see these people so fired up over " The Bern "! My first true national rally, even though not my man, it was neat.
