Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) says that the debate over Syrian refugees should be based on facts rather than “fear-mongering.”
Speaking on the Senate floor, McConnell, R-Ky., urged his colleagues to vote Wednesday to move ahead on a House-passed bill that would require new FBI background checks and individual sign-offs from three high-ranking federal officials before any refugee from Syria or Iraq could come to the United States.
The issue of Syrian refugees has become a major issue in the 2016 election, with Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump calling for a temporary ban on all Muslims entering into the United States.

When Carter banned Muslim immigrants in December 1979 -- he gave the US Marshal's service thirty-six hours to expel all Iranian diplomats, too, it was not called fear-mongering. McConnell is ginning up the base. Ridiculous.
