Yard House, home to 100-plus beers, heading to Harborplace

Harborplace is going after the beer lovers.

The Yard House, a restaurant chain known for its long list of beers and rock and roll music, has filed with the city liquor board for a liquor license transfer to open in the Light Street Pavilion at 301 Light St. It will take over the indoor and outside cafe space of the defunct J. Paul's Restaurant, a long-time tenant of Harborplace.

Yard House's arrival helps answer some questions about the future of Harborplace, which is undergoing much-needed change and redevelopment by owner Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp. Hooter's, also in the Light Street Pavilion, is moving from its second floor location to a more visible first-floor location. New York-based Ashkenazy is expected to roll out future plans for the major tourist attraction.

It would be the first Maryland location for the fast-growing Yard House, which has more than 50 locations in the U.S. Its three newest locations are in New Jersey, Texas and Ohio. The closest Yard House is in Springfield Town Center in Northern Virginia.

The restaurant is known for having 100-plus beers on tap and menu items that include the black truffle cheeseburger, ahi poke stack and spicy jambalaya.
