One in every 482 housing units in Greater Baltimore had a foreclosure filing last month, a new report says that also found that Maryland led the nation in foreclosure rates.
The Baltimore-area had the fourth-highest metro area for foreclosure filings in the U.S. in November, behind Atlantic City, N.J.; Trenton, N.J.; and tiny Ocala, Fla.
The statistics were compiled by RealtyTrac, an online housing data company that reports foreclosure, bank repossessions, default notices and scheduled housing auctions each month based on public information statistics gleaned from each state.
In Maryland, November foreclosure filings totaled 4,631 in November — a 13 percent increase over last November's data. It was the second consecutive month that Maryland led the nation in foreclosure filings, RealtyTrac said. One in every 516 housing units in the state had a foreclosure filing last month, which was more than two times the national average.

We're #1, We're #1
O'Malley for President
To 5:52 - I wholeheartedly agree. Martin O'Malley has ruined Maryland well into the next decade. Just look at the building permits for Wicomico - it has fell off to only 1 since July.
I am telling you right now - one of the Big Box retailers - (Home Depot, Lowes, Delaware Lumber, The Roof Center, Dealers) is going to fold. Maybe several will fold.
Between the Maryland Taxes, Flush Tax fees, Tier Maps, Impact fees - the younger generation doesn't stand a snow balls chance of getting ahead. And as far as minorities - well one does not have to look no farther than Baltimore to see what is happening. Over 60 buildings were torched - because of O'Malley's flawed economic policies.
I'm a loner anyway,so if everyone else leaves md and I'm here alone I'll be ecstatic.
6:54 I am confused by your statement that only 1 building permit has been issued when I see that huge student complex going up on S Division and who approved a family dollar store directly across the street?
What an awful place to build a retail store. IMO that is not a suitable area.
The only thing being built in Smallsbury are low class retail stores. There are 15 Dollar Stores in this town. Do we really need 15 low rent ghetto stores?
More proof O'Malley and the Democrats do not give a damn about the hard-working middle class. Now add the importation of Muslims that are intent to take our government handouts and then kill our children and you get the destruction of not only Maryland but America and all that we stand for.
when all those muslims get here we will have another 50,000 convenience stores, making it easier for the section 8 folks to play keno
