That’s what the attorney general of Kansas is asking middle schoolers, as he proposes that the U.S. citizenship test become part of the official school curriculum.
Currently, the test serves as a screening process for immigrants hoping to become American citizens.
But some also say that ensuring kids understand the workings of U.S. democracy could help instill patriotism in this turbulent era of terrorism, Fox 4’s Matt Stewart reported from Kansas City this morning.

great idea. we were taught about our government and how it works, including the constitution and the bill of rights and so much more. does the government/public schools teach this anymore? i doubt it, because our young people and many adults are so illiterate regarding this subject.

We all learned it back in the 50's and 60's, so, heck yes! It's extremely important that all American kids to know their roots.

The federal government needs to get out of the education business and let local counties take care of there own.
Pretty soon there won't be any citizen's because I doubt any middle schooler I know could pass the test. Most of them don't even know what the bill of rights is much less what any of them are! And, yes, that is because it isn't taught any more.
Don't think many commenters on this blog could pass it. Three branches of government seem a stretch for most here.
