Small fires set at two Grasonville churches

GRASONVILLE — The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating two fires that occurred on Monday, Oct. 19 that it believes were deliberately set and appear to be related.

A small fire was reported in a single story concrete and wood frame vacant church building at 501 Grasonville Cemetery Rd. at 3:38 p.m., a statement from the fire marshal's office said. The building is owned by the Grand United Order of Odd Fellows in America Jurisdiction Committee of Management, whose Most Honorable Grand Master John Green discovered the fire in the sanctuary, according to the statement.

It is also known as the Chosen Generation Deliverance, according to the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office, which responded to both fires and found that someone had gained entry to the building and set the fire.
