WCSO Press Release - September 15, 2015

Incident: Burglary Investigations

Date of Incident: 12-14 September 2015

Location: Wicomico County, MD

Suspect: Pending

Narrative:  Between 12-14 September 2015, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office has investigated several reported break-ins to garages and automobiles. In all of the instances of entry into a garage, it was discovered that the garages had been left unlocked. In most of the break-ins to
the vehicles it was also determined that they were left unlocked. There was an incident where a window in a vehicle was smashed so the perpetrator could access the item inside.

These incidents have been reported in the county in neighborhoods adjacent to the Old Ocean City Road and Coulbourn Mill Road areas.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone to secure their vehicles and lock the exterior doors that lead to their garages. It is also a good practice to
not leave items such as electronic devices, purses or wallets in plain view inside a vehicle.

If you have any information regarding these incidents, please contact the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office at 410-548-4891. You can also report
information anonymously to Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776.

Releasing Authority: Lt. Tim Robinson        Date:  15 September 2015

So the person that locked their car had to replace a window in addition to whatever was stolen. Don't leave valuables in the vehicle and don't lock it or you will need a new window.

I guess putting plain clothes police out at night is out of the question. My neighbor is a detective she is never out at night. At the beach every weekend. Maybe I just don't get it.

Hook wires from the battery to the door handles. A puddle of water under the door.

How about this, stay off my property! Since when do I have to reinforce my home like a military base to keep what I have worked hard to have? Instead of hunting these opportunistic losers down and throwing the book at them, the sound boxes of the local law enforcement agencies that my tax dollars employ remind me to lock my doors?? How about using your imagination and deriving a process by which you bait, catch, charge and prosecute these knot heads. When perps start going down the law enforcement wins and hard working citizens feel safer in a world where day by day thieves are being quietly gifted more rights to property not belonging to them. They got me once, they got me twice, but it's my turn on the thrice.
