Planting Seeds of Hope

“Planting Seeds of Hope” is the theme for the 3rd annual Healing Rose 5K run/1-mile walk to be held on Sunday, Sept. 13, at MAC Inc., the Area Agency on Aging, in Salisbury.

Registration the day of the race begins at 7 a.m. and the run/walk steps off at 8 a.m.

Funds raised will help area breast and gynecological cancer survivors and their families as they face the serious physical, emotional and financial impact of a cancer diagnosis and the treatment that follows. Programs supported by the funds raised will help individuals overcome these challenges, regain their independence and heal.

All funds raised will be used locally to support the innovative Healing Rose Garden which helps cancer survivors grow their own fresh produce, and learn about healthy eating and meal preparation to boost their immune system, regain strength, and return to independence after surviving cancer. Proceeds also will be used to help with medication costs, travel costs for appointments, co-pays, guided exercise, and chiropractic care.

Awards will be given to the top runners. Featured will be entertainment and children’s activities.

Advance registration is $25 for adults and $15 for those age 12 and under; $30 and $20 the day of the race. Registration includes a T-shirt and goodie bag. To register in advance, visit www.macinc.org, call 410-742-0505, ext. 130; or register in person at the Richard A. Henson Health and Wellness Center at MAC. Sponsors are welcome.
