Obama Commutes Prison Sentences of 46 Federal Drug Offenders

Ahead of two events this week where he will talk about criminal justice reform, President Barack Obama commuted the sentences of 46 federal drug offenders.

Obama released a video on Facebook about the decision on Monday.

“We are at a moment where good people in both parties, Republican and Democrats, and folks across the country are doing around ideas to make the system work smarter, to make it work better,” Obama said. “These men and women were not hardened criminal, but the overwhelming majority were sentenced to at least 20 years, 14 of them had been sentenced to life, for nonviolent drug offenses.”

Post about his pardons falls just below one about more arrests for the same thing.

Just recycling the guests at the pokey.

Is his grammar really that bad, or is the reporter here just an idiot who can't write a Quote?

Wow... what a great example this sets - break the rules and you don't have to face the consequences! Laws are made for a reason: to keep order amongst society! I would like for the names of these 46 criminals to be released and revisited in a year or two to see how many of them are back in jail.

46 down, 3 million to go. Why didn't he do this in his first six and a half years in office? Just in time for the NAACP national convention.

Are there any white people being pardoned in this group?

When he releases drug/poison distributors from prison, what messages is Mr. Obama sending to mature, responsible, loving, caring moms and dads living in struggling communities and neighborhoods?

What is Mr. Obama saying to single-moms and/or dads who everyday are faced with stresses and challenges of keeping their children safe from physical or emotional harm, and the anti-social influences of The Street culture that a irresponsible Baltimore mom failed to protect her young teen son from?
