Troopers Investigate Two Robberies at Newark Toll Plaza

Newark, DE - Delaware State Police Robbery Unit detectives are currently investigating a pair of strong arm robberies that occurred at the I-95 toll plaza in Newark this past weekend.

The first incident occurred on Friday, July 10, 2015, at approximately 8:30 p.m., as a male suspect exited a vehicle which had stopped at a northbound toll booth located at the I-95 toll plaza in Newark. The suspect, who had his face concealed by a mask, then reached into the booth and proceeded to remove an undisclosed amount of cash before returning to the vehicle and fleeing in a northbound direction. The 48 year old male employee, who was working in the toll booth at the time of the robbery, was not injured. No weapon was displayed or implied.

The suspect was described as a black male 23-27 years of age. He was approximately 5’07” tall with a thin build, and was last seen wearing a dark colored long sleeved shirt and dark pants. No further physical or clothing description is available.

The second robbery occurred on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at approximately 8:58 p.m. as a male suspect again exited a vehicle which had stopped at a northbound toll booth at the I-95 toll plaza. The suspect then proceeded to open the toll booth door and removed an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing in a northbound direction in the vehicle he had arrived in. The 52 year old female employee, who was in the booth at the time, was not injured.

The suspect was described as a black male. He was 5’07” tall, weighed approximately 150 lbs., and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and had a mask covering his face. No further physical or clothing description is available.

Delaware State Police robbery unit detectives are continuing their investigation into these robberies. No further information will be released at this time so as to not compromise their investigation. There are no video surveillance photos available at this time.

Well they got a real cracker jack in charge of the toll plaza. Knows it all and takes ALL THE credit when things are good and passes the blame when bad.
