WASHINGTON (WJLA) – While many are gearing up to celebrate the 4th of July, non-profit organization Military with PTSD is reminding people to be courteous of combat veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder in your area.
MilitaryWithPTSD.org, helping families connect despite PTSD, is raising awareness about fireworks and the effects they can have on combat military veterans through the “Global Giving Campaign” – a campaign to help [at least] 2,500 disabled veterans with PTSD via a yard sign reading: “Combat Veteran lives here. Please be courteous with fireworks.”
Jon Dykes, the veteran who made the original sign, is asking those celebrating the holiday to be courteous.

My father lost over 50% of his hearing because of shelling during WW2.Some of his friends had issues identical to PTSD upon returning to the states, but not yet named. The issues were loud sound activated, just as this post suggests. The soldiers who lost some or all of their hearing were not as unfortunate as some thought.Hearing devices compensated a whole lot while they maintained their post war life. The aforementioned loud noises had little effect on them.
