Amtrak funding cut approved a day after crash

Republicans in the House approved a funding cut for Amtrak on Wednesday over the objection of Democrats, who linked the proposed reduction to a deadly derailment near Philadelphia.

The cut — part of a $55 billion funding bill for the departments of Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development — was approved by the House Appropriations Committee on Wednesday.

The GOP-sponsored measure contains $1.13 billion for Amtrak, down from the roughly $1.4 billion Congress appropriated for 2015.

Republicans looking after the safety of everyday people?
No they are looking out for those that travel by private jet. As long as they have tax cuts and less regulation that is all that counts.

Those looser dumbocrats will blame everything on the republicans.
Don't mention that the train engineer entered a curve with a speed limit of 50 at over 100 mph.
Dumbocrats answer to everything...more money.

Thirty times the funding would not have stopped the wreck caused by the engineer going over twice the speed limit on a curve but, conveniently, just can't remember doing that.

Gosh, I must have blacked out and then hit the full speed thingy...

Riiiight...
