Saturday the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne hosted the Maryland Eastern Shore Regional Spelling Bee. Wicomico Middle School Eighth Grader Gia Bautista won by correctly spelling “Blustery” Gia repeated as champion. Sixth grader Erin Welch from St. Francis de Sales was runner-up. 43 students participated this year. This is the third year UMES has sponsored the regional bee; only 17 higher education institutions are regional bee sponsors. Most of the others are newspapers and civic organizations.
Hey 8:22 I was thinking the same thing. But , just remember that we have lowered our standards for the minorities. A few years from now expect 3 and 4 letter words to be difficult , especially 4 the four letter group .

If "blustery" is a championship word, our education system is in worse shape than I thought.
